- AJRI answered from this number and someone with a thick foreign accent asked for "Matthew Dillard". I couldn't understand The first time so I asked him to repeat it. After he repeated it and I said you have the wrong number, they literally hung up on me right away. I have no idea who they are and I regret answering the phone.

- EmilyIt's a call from Credit Control. They have left a couple of messages. No idea what they would be calling about since I have no debt. They call from a variety of numbers. One of the numbers is 866-417-5776 extension 343. I got a phone call from them and declined the call. Two minutes later, I get a call from a number that comes up as NO CALLER ID. I think it was them trying to see if I would answer. IGNORE THEM.
I believe they have been sued in New York and other states for harassment.- Caller: Credit Control

- LeaveMeAloneCalled me once earlier today, left no message. I was playing with my son in the snow and saw the missed call on my cell a few hours later after warming up and a nap. Called it back and Gina Account Manager (for once she actually sounded very American as we all know most of these calls sound like a call center in Kazakhstan) answered but would not tell me what company they were from. She asked if I had missed a call then asked me if I was someone else. I said no and she said she would remove my number. SCAMMERS!!!

- Hannah| 1 replyJack Dawson (yes like from Titanic) called me. I knew it was instantly a scam from his accent. Then he ask for me but completely butchered my name, pronouncing it Han nanah (really!!!) I have no debt and couldn’t even understand the company name, which brought me here. At this point they have now called from 4 different numbers today, never leaving a voicemail. These are scams. If you know you don’t owe debt, don’t work something out with them. If you do owe a debt, work it’s out with the original company. After a certain amount of time companies sell to these third parties, but yet they can’t file any cases against you, they are no legal right, and 98% of the time your money doesn’t end up going to pay off your debt. Write a letter to your original company asking for them to send you an original copy of your account and information on how to pay it. They have 30 days to either respond back with the information or not. If they don’t, or they don’t have the origibal (most don’t have 6 months) send that in to the credit bureau and ask for the debt to be removed for yourself as it’s no longer in possession of the original debtor. It will take about a month but you will see the information come off!

- BigA replies to HannahNow, if at least 1% of what you posted was correct, then you would have been on a roll. "If you do owe a debt, work it’s out with the original company. After a certain amount of time companies sell to these third parties," Contradicting yourself? If the debt was sold than the assignment for payments goes with the debt. You agreed to this when you signed the contract for the debt. Paying the OC does not relieve you of your obligation to pay the assignee (Contract Law 101). They do have a legal right to sue and they do indeed sue and win. The only time they would not win is if they did not have all the necessary proof that you owed the debt. Writing a letter to the OC will do nothing for you if the debt was sold. In any case, it is always the responsibility of the debt collector to prove that you owe the debt and that they have the legal right to collect it. That letter should be sent to the debt collector, preferably by certified, return receipt mail. They have an unlimited amount of time to respond back. You have once again confused what the law says with reality. The 30 days applies to the time you have to request debt validation once you have received the dunning letter which must be sent out withing 5 days of first contact. I cannot even guess what the 6 months means. The credit bureau does not have to legally remove a debt because it is not in the possession of the OC. You seem to be making a lot of stuff up here. Are you purposely trying to mislead people?
Do everyone a favor and actually read the law and try to comprehend it. The FDCPA is a plain language law, so anyone with a reasonable amount of intelligence should be able to understand it:
