Claims to be debt collector

Received e-mail claiming to be Spectrum Payment Service re a refund, which I’m supposed to get, but kind of a suspicious from line and now I see another comment here. Said to call this number.

If Spectrum has to refund any money to you, they do so automatically, without asking you any questions, and the ONLY address they will will send it to is the one listed on the account.
You DON'T get to give permission, ask questions beforehand, refuse it, or tell them where to mail it.

I guess they're counting on their victim not realizing it's B.S.

I received a phone call from this number and it is Spectrum. I was not getting a refund it was a payment applied to my account I didn't make. They were calling to tell me the problem was corrected.

This is a scam number. I confirmed with Spectrum using the number on my bill and not working with this person on this number. Here's what happened and admittedly I might have fallen for it. They were that good. In fact, Spectrum representative was just saying that she had just spoken to a gentleman who had this same thing happen and it was a scam.
I received a call from this number from "Isaac" on my cell, not my Spectrum number, saying he was calling from Spectrum, the call was being recorded and then he asked me for my identification information. I was like, you called me, why do I have verify who I am to you? How do I know you're from Spectrum? He said he was from the refund department and couldn't give me details until I verified who I was. Even though I had called a day earlier to get a refund for overpayment, I was told yesterday that the refund would be issued and it was a done deal. So, in the back of my mind I wasn't sure this was real. I decided I should go home and call a verified Spectrum number and work with someone there.  He kept trying to go round and round with me and kept throwing out bits about my overpayment. Anyway, I said I would either need something from him in writing or I would call Spectrum back. He said I would need to reach him at his number and extension. I had no pen or paper and said I could take no information down. Then he ended up emailing my husband who's name is not on the account. I tried reverse look-up and came across the notes on this site saying its a scam or other debt collector. Anyway, I decided to call Spectrum directly and glad I did. No issue with my refund, no noted calls from Spectrum to me regarding the refund by Isaac, only notes about my call the day prior and that a refund is issued.

I received an email from "Isaac " which read, "Hello, My name is Isaac and I am contacting you regarding your account and case #62857306. You can reach me at 866-568-1656 extension 6700878. Monday through Friday between SHIFT  9a-6pThank you"  The email address it came from Paymentsupport.refunds@charter.com.
It sis weird because I did call Spectrum earlier today regarding an overpayment. The refund was issued and the case was closed. There has to be someone working at Spectrum stealing this info for this scam, how else do they know I was speaking with spectrum regarding a refund. I reported it to Spectrum.
