- Christina Donohue| 5 repliesi received a call from a Melissa from this number. she told me i had a debt from a Mastercard i had. i had my attorney look into this company and they actually were legit. i was able to call back and Melissa helped me get a settlement to pay this off at a lower rate

- BigA replies to Christina Donohue| 4 repliesBoy do you need a new "attorney", although I can tell you never had one. A real attorney would have told them to validate the debt instead of simply saying "they are legit, pay them". Tell you what though, why don't you tell us the physical location of this business so that we can check them out for ourselves. If you don't then we know you are a liar.
- Christina Donohue replies to BigA| 3 repliesWhy so angry Big A? Who said I didn't receive a validation of debt? These people provided everything my attorney requested. Not only did they send validation but we also contacted HSBC recovery and they were able to confirm this company had legal rights to my account. I'm no idiot Big A, I know the difference between legal and illegal collection practices.
- James R| 1 replyShould I return this call?
- MJG replies to Christina DonohueNow you sound like a shill. Why not give us the official name and PHYSICAL address of this company like BigA requested? A web search of the name you gave comes up with nothing but a Michigan prison system. (And please do not insult our intelligence by asking "what is a shill".)
- BigA replies to Christina Donohue| 1 replyYou sound like a troll that visits here often with the "Why so angry Big A?" You also greatly resemble that troll because you are now talking in circles. Simple request, once again. Name and address of the company you paid money to for this "legitimate" debt. If you come back and talk in circles, make up some excuse, or don't come back at all, then we will have all the proof we need that you are a liar. Also, no one should feed you until you give us the information or you have proven yourself a liar.
- BigA replies to James RAbsolutely not. Make them follow the letter of the law.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified. If and when you get that letter you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Clearly posted right above the message box. - MDGThis number has called me numerous times over the last four weeks. A search of the name provided (MRI Corrective Services Group) and both phone numbers (other # is 407-537-2786) they are calling from leads me to believe it is a scam. The voicemails left range from claiming to be a debt collection service, to someone using my social security #, to being the IRS. I know for a fact that I have no debts that would be in collections. Also there has been no letter via USPS showing verification of debt has been forthcoming.

- Anon E MouseMElissa Adams has called about 5 different times, left messages for a name i dont recognize, saysing I have to contact her immediately or the "action" (completely unspecified what the "action" is) will go forward to the county court house. I dont know the name they refer to as who they think lives here (Glynnys somebody), I am pretty sure i dont owe anyone. If it was IRS they dont do this, they send mail, if its a lawyer, youd think they would send certified mail. i just put this number on my block list.
