Called and never left a message

Reported to be a fake process server/debt collection extortion scam. They call you up pretending that they are going to serve you with a lawsuit. But since they are so nice they will forego their paycheck to help you, a complete stranger out by letting you call the "suing party" to see if you can stop the lawsuit. Of course you can, but first they also are going to be so nice that they will take the large amount of money you allegedly owe and reduce it to something you can afford to pay today. None of this is real of course, the "suing party" is sitting in the cubicle next to the fake process server and this is all a huge extortion scam. The FTC, CFPB, and your State Attorney General all have websites where you can learn all about debt collection. You can also always call your local courthouse to see if you actually are being sued as well. They will be more then happy to help you.

Thanks so much for sharing! I've been getting this same scam as well stating they will show up at home today from 3-5pm. If they can not reach me they will come to my place of employment. I called my lawyers as I could not thing of anything against me. They obviously could not find anything in the court system and advised me to ignore due to possible scam. If they do show up I can then forward to my attorney's. It's crazy what lengths some possible debt collector's will go. Thanks again for the info, it's good to know that I am not the only one1

Yeah I have been getting the same calls... this guy Ben Johnson is supposed to be coming to serve me legal papers today from 3-5 and if he can’t get ahold of me at my home then he’ll be coming to my work.  Happy I found this post was starting to get concerned

Basically same as above descriptions, claiming they will be arriving “at your residence or current place of employment today between 3 and 5pm.”  Then clarifying if I am not present at either location documentation will reflect “refusal and court proceedings will proceed without you.”

Recorded message leaving voice mail. 8 calls over the last 48 hrs.  Message says to press 0 to talk to a live operator about a process matter, or something like that. I deleted the messages and calls, and blocked the number. Ugh!
