This is the collection division of Pivotal Payments, the most disreputable of all Merchant Account Providers.  Just Google the above phone number and you'll see the litany of complaints.

In a nut shell, they buy smaller MAP's and then send the business owner a message with the "new terms & conditions", which just happen to allow them to extend your contract expiration date to something well out into the future.  

If you don't read this carefully and decline it, according to them, you have accepted the new terms.  If, in the future, you decide to cancel your Merchant Account, they'll tell you that you owe them hundreds of dollars in cancellation fees.

So, the only way to counter this is to open a new MA before you notify them you are closing our Pivotal Payments account.  Open a new business bank account and use it immediately for your bills.  As soon as all the checks clear on your original bank account, CLOSE IT.  Pivotal will no longer be able to suck money out of it.

They will email you with various documents, and a bill for the cancellation fee.  Ignore them.  You will then begin to call you from the above number.  It will be a woman with a really seductive voice who will not identify the company she is calling from and ask for the owner by name.  As a matter of routine, I said "he's on vacation and won't be back for two weeks". She will say please have him call 866-585-3180 Ext. xxx and Reference xxxxxx.  Don't call back.

My banker at Chase says the worst that can happen is an ICC Lien, but lenders don't pay much attention to them if they are small.  In my case it's $650 if they file.  I'll take my chances.

Wouldn't you know it?  Just after I recommended that you do a Google search on Pivotal's phone number, you'll see that their damage control group has already created a glowing report at the top of the list.

Pivotal Payments trying to collect on something that we do not owe! Besides we closed the account long long time ago because we were extremely dissatisfied and switched from them to another provider.
