called but left no message.

Call from a debt collection agency to a number no longer assigned to the debtor.

said they were alliance one; left msg for my boyfriend; don't know who they are or owe anyone any money

On caller ID the number was 800-777-5257 and a gentleman left a msg and said "This msg is for " " ,I need to have you give me a call, my name is John Hall, phone number is 866-590-6323 my ext is 6434, thank you. When I called his number I got a recording that told me to hold for the first available representative, its important that we speak with you, we'll be with you shortly, thank you. There was no option to enter an ext number so when someone finally answered on the other end I didn't say anything. When I call the 800-777-5257 a recording says thank you for calling Alliance One and asks me to leave a message and someone will return the call.

These people have been calling my work phone several times a day for a few weeks.  I wish I could block individual numbers.  Interesting that it is a collection agency, as they are obnoxious enough to be.  Since I don't owe anybody money, so I suspect someone is giving out our business number - we've had it for 7 years.

When are the phone companies going to allow us to put a block on individual nuisance phone numbers?  I use Vonage - they should be able to do this easily.

I received an "emergency" message and returned the call. The first person I spoke with steadfastly refused to say what kind of company they were and insisted that I speak an "associate." I was then transferred to a non-existent line and cut off. Scam or annoyance call? Who knows, but they don't seem in any way legit.

They called my home at 8 AM!! Asking for my fiancé, I asked nicely (as I can at 8 AM~ getting out of work at 2:30 AM)' what can I do for you and the girl just kept on repeating... She needed to talk to my fiancé' . Very rude. Very nasty.

I got one tonight for my son.  They asked me to call them back if this was the wrong number so they could take our number off of their list.  I don't know what the deal is with them but if they were trying to reach my son for real, they'd have his number and not mine.  Not going to even relay a message...not my problem.  Plus, I don't know if they are legit.

Unknown soliciter called my cell phone number at 8 a.m.  When I tried to call back, recording said to hold on the line and they would connect me with next available representative.  I hung up.

Got a call from "Makita" with Alliance One demanding that I call her back today at 866-590-6323.  I called the number and got a Bowling alley. :) Tried the number again twice and re checked my message to be sure I copied the number correctly.  No difference. After reading this post, I called the 1-800-777-5257 number mentioned above.  A woman answered "Alliance One" I asked for Makita explaining the situation. She rudely cut me off by transferring my call to a line that eventually cut me off.  I immediatly tried to call back  three times and no one answered nor was there a voice mail. Definatly not legit!
