Recorded message has called me twice about last call before legal proceedings.

I didn't answer but they left a voice mail this is definitely a scam

Considering this is probably the tenth time (in three months) they've left the same "this is our final attempt to reach you" message.....I call scam.

and they never say who they are, just tell me to call their office at (above number).  Nope. BS.

Left voicemail so I called back claimed that I owed money to a rent a center from 16 years ago and that they could take my vehicles and garnish my wages yet this is the 1st time I've heard of this debt. Think it's a scam

did not state who they were just said what county and they were calling to avoid the order against my assets and to please call them..I call scam

They called me to left message saying last attempt before they file something with my county and take my assets. I googled the number and found your message too so I’m not gonna worry then cause to take someone’s assets you gotta go to court

They call me from all kinds of random numbers and always leave a message about this is our last attempt and they are going to take all my stuff from me but never state who they are just leave the same 8665997743 number everytime and this has been going on for months is so annoying

The vague scare tactic message is designed to panic a victim into calling back.

Most debt collectors will use a certain amount of pressure to convince you to pay the debt. After all, they often don't get paid unless you pay. Be suspicious of a debt collector who uses an unusual amount of pressure to get you to pay immediately, particularly if they also use scare tactics to get you to pay right away. For example, a debt collector is scamming you if it :

• threatens you with a lawsuit and tells that you can avoid the lawsuit by paying right away
• Says a Process Server  or Courier is coming with papers to sign
• Threatens to call / go to your place of employment
• Insists you have been notified, served or are non-compliant via phone message(s)
• Refuses to give a company name or verifiable Contact source
• Refuses to send proof of debt via US mail

A sure sign of a debt collection scam is a collector that wants to you to pay via wire transfer or another method that can't be traced. If the payment method can't be traced, you'll have a harder time getting the authorities involved.

If the creditor sounds completely foreign, or you know you never had an account with that business, there's a chance it's a scam. Never pay a collection you don't recognize. You have the right to request written proof of the debt from the debt collector before you send payment.
