- Joey AielloThis number left an automated message on my answering machine, saying that AT&T had received a notice from the USPS saying my "addresss may be invalid". It said to call this number right away. I called at 8pm, got an AT&T recording which was not the standard one you get when you call 1-800-CALL-ATT. Then a guy came on, asked if I was calling using a calling card, asked my phone number, and then recited my address which I confirmed.
I need to call AT&T and check with them, but this just seemed shady, like it was somebody compiling a mailing list or something.- Caller: Supposedly AT&T
- PaulRobocall voicemail saying to call AT&T because my address was invalid - same as Joey Aiello's 21 Oct 2008 message. I've had this number at this address for 6 years - sounds fishy.
- Caller: supposedly AT&T
- trytoscamI received a call from this number as well asking me to verify my account. My name wasn't stated. I waited to call and when I did, there was this short pause, then elevator music, then an automatic message stating "You have reached AT&T account verification center, please wait until the next available agent."
I hung up and checked with at&t and webpage. This number is a fraud.
I'm wondering how the f*&% did they get my number....
I've been getting other calls asking for other folks.
This is my first land line in over 8 years. I think i need to disconnect.- Caller: At&T

- CacaMouse| 1 replyThis appears to be a legit number. I got a voicemail regarding an address verification issue. I called, the woman asked for my mainline number, from which she pulled up my account name, and address. The address they had on file was incorrect by one digit, which she corrected. I was never asked for any information other than my main phone number.
- Caller: AT&T

- doh! replies to CacaMouseok so I could phone you and ask for your social security number
to "verify our records" or to "clear up an apparent discrepancy in our files" so you tell me the number which I didn't know before
then I say "oh - I see what happened - we just had the last two digits transposed - thanks so much for your help in this! - and thank you for being a customer of AT&T" and you fell for it. Sure we can copy some of the on-hold advertising messages I get when I call the phone company and that may make it seem legit. - here's oneNow please listen carefully. We all need to work together to maintain the status quo (say it together "business as usual"). There will always be goods shipped from around the world at malwart and the water and electricity will always be on-tap and your job will always be there for you and the bank can't fail nor can your retirement and of course there is plenty of law enforcement in case of any problem and also of course it will be obvious to them that you aren't the problem but that you are the one they need to protect. You will never go hungry or lack for heat. Tomorrow will be like today only easier.
- Nero - Its a fraud!!!I just recieved a phone call telling me that UPS had notified them that soemthing is wrong with my address...Well I called the number back 1-866-607-7886 and waitied on hold. While I was waiting I started wondering...I've called AT&T lots of times and have been a cutomer of theres for about 6 years now and something didnt seem right. So I hung up and called AT&T with the number I usually do and they looked up my account and read my address to me and nothing was wrong. I STRONLG RECCOMEND U DO NOT CALL THIS NUMBER AT ALL!!! I do not know what they are trying to pull. but save your self from the scam and do not call this number!
- it's not a fraud!! It really is AT&TI got a call from this number as well. They are AT&T address verification department. I called AT&T myself to make sure. AT&T conferenced call that department and they verified my address with me. The reason they did it was because i had recently moved and they received returned mail that was sent to my "new address". They thought it was a little strange considering the fact that i had just changed it with thm a little over a month ago.
- Caller: AT&T
- greg replies to trytoscam| 1 replyIt's not a fraud you bone-head!!!! It's AT&T's verification department. If you would have called AT&T yourself, you would have figured it out. GEESH!! Stop being such a bone-head!!
- CRockI just had a call from this number. It was pre-recorded and poor quality. So I googled it and found this site. I called AT&T directly at 888.757.6500. They had my address wrong and were able to correct it with no problem.
- no-spamee replies to gregSorry, Charlie, it is a scam and you post here to pretend it's not. They call people at random, who have NO connection to any AT&T account. So exactly what are they "confirming"?
Scam, phishing, totally. - CarrieSame story as the previous entries - phone #866 607-7886 called and left a message stating USPS notified them that my address may be invalid and to call the AT& T address verification # to clarify. My questions are 1) Why does it say Toll Free on the phone display instead of AT&T if they are indeed from AT&T and 2) why are their hours from 8:00 am to 11:00 pm Eastern Time - AT&T is a big enough company to staff their phones 24 hours.
I looked up my address on my AT&T account online and it was correct so I did not call them. - cdt1800This number just doesn't sound right. I got that it as an AT&T verification number and I had to give them my phone number and they said that my phone bill had been returned to them. Oddly, I had just paid my current phone bill and did NOT give them my address that Paulette had requested.
- Caller: AT&T Verification
- RobertsJust got an automated call from this number. Have read all the posts here. The bottom line...We are not AT&T customers and never have been so there is no reason for them to be calling us! Have no clue.
- Caller: AT&T
- docI too got a call from them. They told me a package from at&t was returned to them and wanted to verify my address. I verified my address and said I had not ordered anything from at&t. The package they refered to has never arrived. Very suspicious if you ask me!
- Caller: supposedly At&t acount review.
- orliI had the same thing happen. They told me that something was returned and wanted my address. I've lived here for over 15 years, so I"m not calling the number back to see if it's legit. Based on the posts, I"m sure that it isn't.
- Caller: AT&T
- Legit NumberI was suspicious when i received a fax requesting verification so I called AT&T directly. After the representative called the 1-866-607-7886 himself he did confirm this is a legitimate AT&T line and he just varified my billing address over the phone and told me to disregard the fax. AT&T had recently reinstalled my fax line and they were just verifiying the billing address. Also, The fax line listed for reply for AT&T was 1-888-549-8858fax.
- Caller: AT&T
- IreneJust got a call 18666077886, saying "invaided address" They were wanting information about the account. We do even get any information through mail on ATT. I think ATT should be checking their computer customer list, and made sure it's secure.!!!
- Caller: They claimed to be ATT.
- Not an AT&T customer| 2 repliesSounds like a lot of people have experienced the same issue with this phone number since 2008. Why haven't they been shut down? I don't believe this number is legitimate because I am not an AT&T customer. I got the same electronic voice recording as mentioned above in other posts that told me to call the number back because "a package had been returned to USPS" and they "needed to verify my address." I have no plans to call as everyone I do business with today knows how to find me.
- Caller: AT&T Supposedly
