Irs wants my money

It's crappy paper telling me I o io so off to work Dorothy is after my money and  the witch will be burned down slowly

Thought this was a scam, but the number checks out as the Offer in Compromise, IRS office in New York. Verified this by checking an IRS letter in response to my OIC.

I called this number as it was listed as an IRS phone number.  Person answered and stated he was from IRS.  He kept insisting for a credit card number to access my account.  Hung up.

Number was given to me by a real IRS representative, but when I called got a bunch of scam offers. I am very confused.

I am a CPA and this number was provided to me by an authorized IRS Rep - I know it was a legitimate IRS rep, not the number is for hotel billing -Horrisd

Yes, that seems to be correct.  I found a copy of a pdf file online dated May 6, 2016 that listed this number as a call back number for a specific IRS employee.  However, as you pointed out, this is NO LONGER an IRS number.  Call back gets in British accent) "Hello and thank. Just for calling today you are entitled to a hotel rate of one hundred dollars.  Press 1 now for more information."
