- Michael HuntThis is the call-back number for the Bank of America fraud unit.
They'll call you if they believe your card was comprimised.- Caller: Bank of America
- SteveI got a call from this number to my cell and the caller really botched my last name. 'Chris' said he was from FIA Card Services and that they monitor the account for fraud and to call them back at this number. It was just too weird so I called the number on the back of my BOA Visa Card. I was asked several strange security questions and was then told that a charge to a grocery store for $12 was suspicious and she was re-activating my account.
BOA, you make me uncomfortable that you have my money.- Caller: FIA Card Services
- KeithI agree. Appears to be a Bank of America fraud dept. I ended up hanging up on the guy and calling the number on the back of my credit card, but I believe its legitimate.
- Caller: FIA
- ken| 1 replyi was told to call this number from the Bank of America number on the back of my credit card, that i had to call them as there was a 'temporary hold' placed on my card, perhaps due to suspicious activity on the account, but the rep at their toll-free number could not provide any further information. so i have to call this number listed as their fraud unit. they happened to be closed on sunday.
- Caller: bank of america
- not Michael replies to kenCall the number on your statemen or on the back of your card. Its answered 24 hours/day, 7 days/week.
Do not call the number the caller gave you. If the caller is a scammer the number he gave you will be answered by one of his co-scammers. - dLast week and a couple of weeks before that, I received calls from this telephone number (866-622-7929) in which the caller claims to be calling from Bank of America's fraud department and is calling to inquire on unauthorized activity on my account. During both conversations, the caller claims that a credit card application was submitted in my name and is calling to confirm the application. After informing the caller that I did not authorize the opening of any accounts, the caller then proceeded to ask for personal financial information such as what accounts I have with Bank of America and other banks, and when I opened such accounts. On the second call, I ended the conversation and asked the caller for a reference number for this call. The reference number I was given (618) seemed to be fictitious.
I do not know if this is a phishing scam, but there is a strong likelihood since I called my bank to confirm and both times, my bank confirmed that they have no record of these calls. - watch_your_BACkSame thing happened to me. It sounds so suspicious, my reference number was 635 so in the last 5 months there have only been 17 cases?
But I called Customer support on the credit card they said that it WAS their fraud department and had transferred me over to them. So now I don't know what to think. The info they were telling me was not quite right. It was the credit card customer support that I called and they had documentation that someone there called me.
I suppose though since some blogs indicate the number has been in use for 2+ years, they would have shut them down by now if they were not legit. You think? - Gary| 1 replyHappened to me too, but it was a letter in the mail from supposedly Bank of America it arrived April 23, 2013. They said someone had redeemed award points, and if I did not authorize it, then call 866.622.7929. I put the number in google search and found these posts.
I also went to online banking and checked my reward points - no activity when the letter said it took place. This letter is a hoax. I hate scammers - right up there next to terrorists. - bob866-622-7929.
i recieved a call from this no, i called it back, it was a phone room, could here other callers in background,

any one that does not knowe therre address were they work every day and is not shure what to say, it sounds like a definit scam, looking for account no#,- Caller: they say card services
- BertProbably not specifically BOA as I was given this number by Fidelity about my Fidelity credit card (FIA) after they shut my card down abruptly yesterday. Seems that it has to do with credit card fraud and as such is probably in your best interest to speak with them. Just my guess at the moment as this number is only avail from 8-8 est Mon-Fri, and its past 8 est Fri here.
- JohnMine message came in the form of a letter to my home. It said, "To ensure uninterrupted use of your account, please call us toll-free at 1-866-622-7929. I am very sceptical because I closed the account they are referring to months ago.
- L. MatthewsI received a call from this number. Fraud, Fraud, Fraud
- Caller: Card Services
- MPGot a call around 11am this morning to our home number. Googled it and found this page. Meanwhile, my wife got a call on her cell that she confirmed to be from BoA Credit Card fraud department, calling about 3 unauthorized charges made in the US and in Pakistan, where we never lived. We closed that card today and are getting another one tomorrow.
So, yes, this number appears to be LEGIT. If you are not comfortable talking to them, at least, hang up and call back your bank asking for their fraud department, otherwise you might either rake unauthorized charges or get your card declined.
- dThe number was valid from B of A Fraud Svcs. Called them back at the number on the back of my CC and there were several bogus charges on my card
- Caller: B of A
- AnonReceived a call from this number. Didn't recognize it so I Googled and found this thread saying it was Bank of America fraud department. Still untrusting of possible scammers, I called the number on the back of my card. It was a legitimate inquiry of fraud by BoA.
If you don't recognize a number and you're not 100% sure it's legit, ALWAYS call the number on the back of your card or on your statements.
Incoming calls on your phone can be made to look legit when they are not.- Caller: Bank of America
- Michael| 1 replyGot a call from this number on my cell, I get a lot of scams calling my cell number. When I didn't answer I immediately got a call from the same number on my work line which I almost never get bad calls on. I answered and the person on the other end wanted to confirm a call I had initiated to Bank of America about my credit card a few days prior. She knew the phone numbers I had given them and how long I had been a cardmember. She did not ask for any personal information. Seemed legit.
- Caller: Bank of America
- Michael replies to MichaelAfter the call I described above I called BofA using the phone number on the back of my card, and they were able to confirm the call from 866-622-7929 was legit, and provided the correct date, time, and subject of the call. So, this number is confirmed OK.
- GThe number is legitimate. They called to inform me my card had been used in another state, East Coast while I live on the West Coast! My card was compromised back in May 2014 and deactivated both my debit and credit card. That is how I found out. However, I NEVER activated my card (and it's now October 2014); however, the representative said that the card they sent might of been already activated, which he said they do sometimes. I think that is ridiculous for them to activate. We as the cardholder should activate the card. Nonetheless, when I received the voice message I logged into my account and it did say that my credit card was on hold due to fraudulent charges.
- Caller: Bank of America FRAUD Dept.
- SLOVOLSThis is a LEGITIMATE phone number for the BANK of AMERICA fraud department!!
Steve (from B/A) was very helpful, as I just had two of my B/A cards compromised in the same day. UNREAL!!!!
New cards on the way, but it is just plain frustrating, as I now must contact all of companies that have 'pre-authorized' charge payments setup with (utilities, insurance, etc..).- Caller: Bank ofAamerica fraud department
