Called from unknown (blocked) number saying a civil suit was going to be filed. Didn’t get my name right either. Gave this number to call back. Most likely a scam as they called from unknown number.

This caller is using a method called Spoofing. The operator(s) spoof their number; by deliberately calling consumers - after collecting your information through 2nd and 3rd party service level agreements (SLA) who sale your data. In other words, they are entirely fraudulent.

For example, they state their offices are at 337 North Vineyard Avenue, Ontario, CA 91764. However, after reaching out to one of my former colleagues at Makkabi Law Group who's staffed at this address and building, be advised is how he told me Makkabi Law Group is the ONLY law firm at 337 North Vineyard Avenue, Ontario, CA 91764; along with their HQ being based out of Beverly Hills, California.

With that being said, I don't know who they were trying to contact "calling my phone," but they contacted the wrong individual -aka- a Staff Attorney for the Federal Communications Commission here in Washington, DC. And because I'm an FCC Attorney, I just want to share this information with you - so you can protect yourself.

P.S. The person who contacted me originally was named Shay. She stated she's calling on behalf of Ellis & Associates. She also stated my number was referred to her on behalf of a relative contact in conjunction with a pending civil complaint. THIS REALLY MADE ME LAUGH. Why? Because as a federal attorney who understands how a "Service of Process" works, I knew they were full of it. Because when it comes to the law there's only (4) primary means of service: Personal Service [dealing with a face to face subpoena], Third Party [being subpoena at your residence], Employment [being subpoena at your job], and Service By Mail [being subpoena by both 1st class and/or by certified by mail]. However, can you be summoned by a phone call? Absolutely. Although, in order to do so, at minimum; you must notify the defendant of the court, the case name, and the case number; including, the action against them. In other words, the law must tell you "what civil action" is being waged (e.g., Landlord/Tenant, Product Liability, Medical Malpractice, Employment/Labor, Intellectual Property, etc.) Which is exactly what I tried to tell "Chris," the preceding "Manager and Partner of Ellis & Associates;" who didn't want to know my GS Payscale.

-- Oh and get this. Chris of Ellis & Associates "blocked me from their alleged law firm." Guys & Gals! The people calling you from this number are entirely fraudulent; so don't pay them any mind. When the Federal Government reopens, I'll launch an investigation with the FCC. Stay safe!

The caller Amanda Williams said she was calling - hired by Ellis & Assoc.  Said that I was the contact for my son, gave his name correctly, gave me a Case # and said that paperwork was "sent" two weeks ago.  It was concerning a pending civil complaint and could I contact him and tell him that he MUST call tonight because they were going to file tomorrow.  I called my son and he said he hadn't received anything and thought it was fraudulent right away.  That's when I started searching and found this site.

They did the same thing to me last week,  i called the 8666297380 and some idiot said he was some lawfirm saying they were going to sue me some hospital bill i owed 10 years ago. Its a scam. I was never in the hospital ten years ago.

This number called my husband asking for me that I owed money. I thought it was very odd and so I am in search of finding out if this is a scam.

I came across your post looking for info on another company, but just wanted to let you know that there are quite a few law firms at that Ontario address. Your colleague has to pass another firm just to get to the elevator and/or stairs everyday.

PS: I'm pretty sure you all are getting called by a shady/illegal debt collector.
