Had voice message from someone name Joy/Joyce Winters saying they were a process servor and wanting to serve a summons regarding fraudulent check charges.  Said I had the "right" to call the plaintiff @ 866-629-9704 and provided case #.  She didn't leave her own # for me to contact her back.
I called the 866# and got a voice mail greeting saying they were "The ACS Group" and said to hold on for an agent if didn't have an extension #...then got another voice message to leave info for someone to call me back.  I did not leave a message for them.  I am providing this info to my lawyer to investigate.

These people called my sister and my work trying to say they had a court summons. I am paying all my bills so that isn't an issue. They wouldn't say who they were, nor would they provide me with any written statement of what I may owe even though I asked. Definately let everyone know what your lawyer finds out. I called the number and got the same message. When I waited though, I actually got a person I could barely understand and they wouldn't give me any infrmation. They just wanted me to give them a credit card number so my "debt" could get paid. When I tried to look up  the number, it said it wasn't within the United States.

Just got the same call from the number and a guy named Nick Halden stated that he was a process server and that I needed to contact the attorney at this number 1-866-269-9704 and gave me a five digit case number to give the lawyer regarding a summons.  I am sick and tired of people harassing my home phone and cell phone.  Would love to know more about this so called attorney if anyone has any info.

He wanted to advise me that I may get a failure to appear, for not being properly served.  Sorry I do a lot of work in the court house and have access to case numbers,  the one he left on my phone does not exist and also there are no cases pending.  Just a bunch of B.S.

left message at my aunt's house and did not talk directly to me, if this was a business call, why did they not talk directly to me. I wish they will just stop calling. With the economy being so bad, they need to give me some money, for wasting all them phone calls. You can't get water out of a well when the well is dry, that's how my pocket is now. (LENT).

OMG!!! I actually have been dealing with these ppl since Jan. 2011. They were telling me they are looking for me and that i would be summoned to court. However I did not question it thoroughly because the companies they were calling about were actually companies I had a debt with from a few years ago. So tho it was real stressful, to avoid going through court I agreed to set up arrangements to clear up the debt. They even took like $200 dollars off and said it was a settlement amount!  I have paid $300 so far and was about to make the last payment of $100 today. But everytime i called the number no one answers which was strange b/c since Jan they always answered the phones. THEN today my mother called me saying they called her and stated the same bull to her about finding me and me being summoned. I called the number back which was a diff number (877-400-0312, ARDS or somethign like that) and it was the same jist but they were calling for another company i owed from when i was younger. So at this point I'm very stressed and I went ahead and made a pymnt today of $145 and have two more set up for May and June. I got on the site looking up a number that keeps calling and hanging up and decided to check their number and that's when I found this post. I feel so hurt and dumb b/c now I'm just really confused!!! B/c they brought up charge I actually owed I don't klnow if it's a scam from ppl that somehow found out about past debts i have or if it's actually legit!! I don't know what to do. I'm very frustrated because my money is tight. I am on disability!!! If it's a scam I'll never get over how much i have just given them and lost! Not to mention how dumb I feel.!

This morning I received a call on my cell phone and a woman asked if (don't remember the name) was there. I told her she had a wrong number. She asked if I knew ????? and I told her again that she had a wrong number and I hung up. She immediately called back and I hung up on her. She called another 4 times and I hung up. I shut off my phone and she left a voicemail.
The message said that her name was Joy Winters and went on about precess serving and If I wanted to avoid court I should call 866-428-6585 and settle out of court. She referenced a case #
400644. I did not call the number because it was obviously a scam. I will pay a visit to the local police to report this.

Don't put up with their crap.

I demanded they send proof I actually owed the debt. First they said they do not send verifications by regular mail as they are a "paperless office" - yeah, right. They emailed me no contract, nothing showing I owed anything, just a very short letter claiming I owed the debt which had ACS Group LLC in it's letterhead but NO return physical address and NO email address.

The next time they called I ripped them to shreds over it. I told them until they can show me a contract with my name on it and proof I actually owe anything that as far as I am concerned they are nothing more than a bunch of scammers and ripoff artists. I also reported them to my state AGO.

I am FED UP with these darn scammers. Get an honest job, you losers! I hope you all go to jail.

Legit collectors per section 809 of the FDCPA http://www.ftc.gov/bcp/edu/pubs/consumer/credit/cre27.pdf *must* tell you at initial contact, or send you paperwork within 5 days of initial contact, the following:
    1. $amount of debt,
    2. name of the current creditor (which may differ from the original creditor who might have sold your debt),
    3. a statement that that debt will be assumed to be valid unless you dispute in writing within 30 days,
    4. a statement that that if you do dispute in writing within 30 days, the collector must mail you written verification of the debt,
    5. a statement that if you ask the collector in writing within 30 days, the collector must send you the name and address of the original creditor if it's different from the current creditor.
If you don't get the 5 disclosures, orally or in writing (you do not have to ask for it, the FDCPA requires it), treat the collector like you would any SCAMMER. Scammers are using bought/hacked loan application data to extort payments for fictitious debts from victims and victims' families and friends.

I have received a few calls myself from Dave Ellis stating he was a process server and he has been retained to serve me a summons to appear in court.  He stated that he will be serving me the summons at my place of employment or my home. He left the number 866-599-5783 for me to call and he stated that it was the plaintiffs office. I did my own research and Dave Ellis is a paralegal and a debt collector. He is the owner of Fast Track Paralegal which is in Ontario Canada.
