Is it really helpful to anyone to say you received a call from this number with no further info?

yes it is very useful. That was the exact information I was looking for.

It is Cox Communication placing a friendly and rather annoying message to you as a reminder to pay your cable bill.

Cox cable sending that automated message wanting your bill paid. EVEN AFTER you tell them you have paid them.

"Go online to cox.com to review your account or call 866-647-4482"

I cannot find this number on the cox.net web site.
When I call this number, he wants:
- Full Name
- Phone Number
- Personal PIN
- Last four of SSN

This appears to be a scam to get enough personal information to steal my identity!!

Cox Communications has been calling me for over a year. I have no association with them, nor have I ever, yet they continue to call at least twice a day to my cell phone number. They use several different phone numbers and block most of the phone numbers from showing so you can't do anything about it. When I answer the phone, I get an automated number asking me to call another number. When I call the other number, there is a message asking me to leave my name, my phone number, and the best time to return the call.

I have never been this harassed before by a company I have no association with. They claim my non-existent bill is overdue or that something is wrong with my non-existent account. It's a big time scam!!  I put my cell number on the National Do Not Call Registry over 6 weeks ago, yet Cox continues to call. They have even called after 9:00 p.m. I just registered a complaint with the Do Not Call Registry so hopefully they will follow through.
