    I got a letter perporting to be from the SSA. There was an extension number of 36328 for Maxine Baughn.  When I called, Maxine was busy and they wanted my name, SS# and home phone number.

    I would suggest you get the phone number of your nearest Social Security office from the telephone book or other reliable source and call them. Explain that you received a suspicious phone call andthey should be able to help you.
