It may not.

This post has two parts.  The =second= is for people who are interested in the realities of the Do Not Call list.  The =first= is for people who have difficulty understanding long explanations, but think the DNC list does not work.

1)
The DNC list is not a magic switch attached to your phone line, that will block calls.

The DNC list is intended to help stop calls originating from legitimate telemarketers.
* Your calls were not from legitimate telemarketers.
* Therefore, the DNC list will not stop those calls.

2)
The DNC list does not automatically block calls.  Instead, it provides a list of  "do not call" phone numbers to legitimate, registered telemarketers who pay a fee for the list.

The DNC list exempts political callers, survey organizations,  charities, and companies with preexisting business relationships, as well as debt collectors, but these organizations might have their own, internal Do Not Call list (ask them).

The DNC list is not effective against criminals, spammers and scammers, because those people do not subscribe to the DNC list, and do not care if you are on or off that list.
Its purpose is to stop calls from legitimate telemarketers, and it does a pretty good job at that.  Just think ... if there were no DNC, you would be receiving incessant calls from BOTH legitimate and scam telemarketing callers!

Remember, the FCC's Do Not Call site is a good one to report unwanted calls from LEGITIMATE telemarketers.   To report spammers and scammers, visit the FTC site, at https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/

If you receive calls even after reporting them (and waiting a sufficient time), then you should consider using a call blocker app, device or service as your first line of defense.  Google "call blocker" to see such things at Amazon or other sites.

I am receiving many unwanted calls from 866-670-7627.

Calls twice a day.  Never leaves a message.

Google lookups show very little from this number.

Two to three calls a day and does not leave a message IF I don't answer and you don't leave a message, your call will NEVER get answered.

i have had several calls from this number, i never answer calls if i dont know the number, but decided to today and there was silence on the other end, when i called back i couldnt understand what the guy was saying

They are a debt collection company. I finally called them back to find out who the heck they were, and once they stated who they were, I expressed my anger at them calling so many times a day and never leaving a message. Got the normal "I'm so sorry...blah...blah" but I was still infuriated. Told them that I was well aware of the debt and I'd contact them when I was able to pay it and to stop calling me. We'll see if they listen.

Mike Martinez (if that was his real name) called and wanted me to verify my name and address before he would give me any info on why he was calling. I asked where he was calling from and he kept telling me some city in Washington. I had to tell him 3 times that when i ask where he is calling from im not refering to his geographical location i want the name of a company. He refused to give me a company name so for my safety i refused to verify anything and hung up. Still no idea who he was or why he was calling.

They have been calling me every day multiple times for over a month. I don't answer numbers I don't recognize, but because they have been so persistent, I have answered at least 4 or 5 times. Every time I've answered I've said hello and gotten no response so I hang up. This is harassment!

Don't know who keeps calling from this number. They call seven days a week three or four times a day. They ask if this is me but will not tell you who they are or why they are calling. They hang up as soon as you ask who they are.

They call all hours of the day! No consideration at all. I will not answer they will continue wasting their time calling 3 times a day

I am very irritated when someone called me at 8;30 am listed as a Toll Free Caller.  They must be really daffy.  I looked the number up on www.  Appears that call comes from Texas.  They have 4 employees with a base pay of $33,000. One site stated origin of "shipments" are from Singapore.  They have made 12 shipments since 2003.  That's about all I could find.  I am blocking the number.

IF you call back from public number they answer as "receivable bla bla bla management" and they try to verify what was the original number getting calls.

SCAM!  Trying to get money and personal info. Reported to service provider. Trace/trap call requested.  Calls from 6:00 am to 10:30 pm, weekdays, weekends, holidays.  If you answer the phone they claim to be a debt collection agency calling for Thomas Murphy or Thomas Gardner.  They flub the script regarding, "This call is being recorded".   Caller ID:  Performance Receivables, PerfRec.  Sometimes spoofs Caller ID. Sometimes leaves a 14 second message instructing you to call 877-297-3156-If you call back, it goes to an automated voicemail.  Two minutes later you get incoming calls from 866-670-7627.

I've received repeated calls, going to answering machine, throughout the week for about 2 - 3 weeks with the call-back number of 866-670-7627.  Allegedly, the calls are from Receivables Performance Management in the state of Washington. I also received one call,telling me to call back to 877- 297-3156.  I Googled Receivables Performance Management and found their address and March 21st sent them a letter requesting documentation supporting the "alleged debt" that was the subject of the calls.  To date I have received no response from the Co.

Wrong. Your first line of defense should be a call blocker to begin with. Screw the DNC list.
