Avoid these people. They work for MetLife, but are not the same. They basically try to get as much of your award from SSDI to put into MetLifes pocket and get a percentage. They try to get you back to work by trying to make you take some type of job training. Because if they can prove you can somehow work, that gets them out of paying you disability. They don't really want to help you, they want to help MetLife to legally find a way not to pay you. Which is sorry, because they have no problem taking life insurance payments from your paycheck. Their only goal is to hire Allsup to legally find a way  to cut you off when they have to pay.

A lot of people fraudulently claim to be disabled, and this one of the things insurance companies do to find the frauds. When I worked in the Beaumont, Texas, area back in the 1970s, it was amazing how many workers got sick right when hunting season began.

If you are receiving SSDI, that is a government benefit paid by the government based on taxes levied on worker's income.  MetLife has nothing to do with the payment of those benefits and would not benefit in anyway if you stopped receiving them.  There is a SS program called "ticket to work" where they try to get you back into the work force.  This would benefit SS since it would then receive taxes back from your wages.  But again, no private company would benefit from this.

This company does work for MetLife.  In my case, I am receiving disability payments through my former employer - I could no longer do my job.  The way MetLife wrote the policy requires me to pursue Social Security disability payments and, if successful, I must turn over the payments to MetLife.  Still pursuing SSDI after 4 years!  Allsup calls me every few months to get a status on my SS case.  They are always friendly and courteous.

The private company would benefit from it and I'll explain. When you first stop working if your company has STD (Short Term Disability) and LTD(Long Term Disability) the goal is to get you back to work or onto SSDI. Once you've been off long enough to transition to LTD, most LTD companies require that you apply for SSDI as a condition of receiving LTD. In the fine print is a hidden clause that upon SSDI approval you repay the LTD company the beneits you received from your SSDI lump sum. Allsup and companies like them contract with LTD companies to assist claimants with their SSDI applications and upon the claimants approval they get a piece of the SSDI lump sum payment as well, however if the claimant is denied they're paid by the LTD company to assist the claimant in returning to work so that the LTD company can stop paying the claimant. So Allsup and other 3rd party companies like them make money either way it is to their benefit whether you get SSDI or not if you sign to have them assist you with your SSDI application. Most people aren't aware of this they get panicked and want help to keep some sort of income coming in so they sign.

I must say that I have read complicated legal documents that were easier to understand than that post.  I also now have a headache from it.
