- n2fun| 1 replyWhen I called this number back, they say they are UPS investigating. However, I had no knowledge of the package. They gave me a bogus tracking number.

- DerekThis really is UPS. They called me because they were investigating a missing package that I had reported it to my shipper. The shipper contacted UPS to initiate an investigation as to what happened to the package. Called them back and they just asked for the tracking number and they had the shipper's information and knew what all was inside the packages. They knew the supposed delivery date, time, and address. The guy I talked to was polite and courteous.

- jae replies to n2funI also got a call with a bogus tracking number and when I called the phone number on the ups website they had no idea what this phone number was.
- concernedI received a call from this number on Sept. 3, 2010. I went to the UPS website and found it was a bogus tracking number. Then I checked my orders to see if I had ordered anything in the time frame alluded to and I hadn't placed an order with the company they referred to anywhere near the time frame they gave me. I don't know what the scam is but it is definitely a phone scam of some kind.
- BOOMDIADA12-28-2010. My Dad was called from this number and they gave him a UPS tracking number and said they were looking for me. I called them back and the tracking number was from back in April and they had my address wrong (just barely). It was a package from Office Max. I have never ordered anything from Office Max. Ever. I have also never given my Dad's number out. Ever. I called Office Max and my name is not in their system but she also said she could not go back as far as April in her computer either. I do believe there is some kind of scam here but I have not figured the angle yet.
- YeppersUPS This is UPS. I had a lost package and missed the call. I called UPS (their main number in case if this was a scammer) and they said that there was no change on the status of my lost package and that they don't know why someone would call me. However, the call back number that was left on the voicemail was verified to be the internal number of the investigation department at UPS. Later the same day, I called back. Long story short, they actually did find my package that day and that was them calling to verify the package. (The label fell off and they wanted to me to describe the contents.)

- missing packageThis is who I believe to be UPS. I had a package missing and they called to see if it was indeed missing which is strange because I had already reported it missing. They knew what was in the package and my information.
- Caller: UPS??
- vulturedoorsI filed a claim for a missing package and got a voicemail message from UPS concerning it. The callback number they gave is this one, HOWEVER when I call that number I get some random guy's private residence. What the heck?
- Caller: UPS
- DSThis is actually UPS - They called to ask about a missing package. They already had my address the correct tracking no. They did not ask for any personal info except for my name during the call.

- AnonymousHSN had a computer glitch & had UPS deliver a package to a very old residential address of mine. HSN then took their time reporting the problem to UPS which called me more than a month later as part of their investigation. This was the number the ostensible UPS caller left on my voicemail as a return number. It has all the outward appearances of a legitimate UPS number & identifies the line as UPS when you call it. I also called UPS Customer Service. They were unable to confirm whether or not this was a UPS phone number (their system isn't set up for that) but they were able to confirm that they did show in their system that the delivery in question was under investigation. Bottom Line: I think this is a legitimate phone number for UPS. The problem they called about is genuine. My only concern is that the people who received my package at my old address would also have had the receipt which contains my name, the contents of the package, etc. so one has to be careful about trusting random callers.
- H.L.It does seem to be UPS, searching for a package that they've lost and that the driver claimed was delivered to our address.
Always better to be wary when it comes to things like this, though. - michaelyes i first got a call on a sunday evening from 1-866-706-6897 then another later from 1-866-706-6894 both said they were UPS and where call about a package i have turned in lost. in the call the lady stated i would need to give my info of my credit card use to buy it. i did not do so and they hung up on me both time. the number 1 866 706 6894 called said it was her manager and said i must do as asked or there would be no reimbursement of my lost package. then i get a e-mail said UPS in heading of a receate from UPS showing it had been returned and to get it i would have to pay postage of 52.00 dollars. is this crazy or what. is UPS being hacked for they knew all about me and the package i was missing??

- Heather| 1 replyI am POSITIVE this is some kind of a scam - NOT UPS.
They said they were tracking something supposedly sent in Aug.1 - but I didn't have this phone number until Sept. 15. So there is NO WAY this phone number would be in their records (and my older number I never 'forwarded' because I received too many calls for the previous person who had the number).
Also, I never ordered anything from company they were supposedly representing.- Caller: Caller ID read "United Parcel S"
- Heather replies to Heatherp.s. This is a 'phishing scam' - here is what UPS says:
http://www.ups.com/content/us/en/resources/ship/fraud_ups_recognize.html
Phone Calls, Letters, Faxes, and Other Communications Fraudulently Using the UPS Name or Brand
In addition to fraudulent websites and e-mails, fraudsters also may use the telephone, a fax machine, letters, or other communication methods in an attempt to gather your personal information. These fraudulent communications are the unauthorized actions of third parties not associated with UPS. Fraudulent communications claiming to be from UPS may claim to indicate a package is waiting to be delivered. These communications will generally ask you for personal information and/or a payment in advance of receiving a package, or may indicate a need to update your account by obtaining personal information or a copy of your UPS invoice.
If UPS contacts you regarding a package, the UPS representative will always be able to provide a tracking number, which you can verify on our website. You also should know that UPS may contact you from time to time regarding service offerings or for marketing purposes, but you may always verify our phone number and call back before proceeding.
If you are ever unsure of the validity of a communication, ask for the caller's first and last name and a call-back telephone number. - MikeThis is definitely UPS, calling in regards to a missing package. I did have a missing package claim in my UPS account, and the caller was able to provide legitimate information, including my name, where I ordered the package from, the tracking number of the package, the contents of the package, and when it was supposed to be delivered. Unless UPS got hacked or something, there's no way for anyone else to have gotten that specific information. This is a legitimate call from UPS, and not a scam.

- MinnesotaBoyI received a call and it was for a lost package. UPS was calling with the correct tracking number and the content of the package I was expecting to receive. It is a valid investigation contact number for their company.

- Hope MillerTo everyone posting on this phone number. It is a valid UPS phone number to one of their call centers. They recently changed their phone number to 866-706-6894. These two numbers belong to the UPS package tracing department and I have been speaking with them daily for the past 11 years.

- KcI received a call from 1-866-706-6894. It was someone claiming to be from UPS - mumbling I could barely hear him. He said this is about a lost package. He seemed uncertain in his voice when he said lost package as he didn’t sound professional in the voicemail. He said this is about a lost package or something. And he only gave me the last digits of the so called tracking number so I couldn’t even look on the ups website for tracking. I also didn’t place any orders so I knew there was nothing coming for me. I called UPS they said it’s not their phone number and it’s a scam.
