This is getting to be too much. I answered and listed to the message. They asked for someone else in the recorded message. I pushed the buttons to be removed but they still keep calling!!

I have been receiving these calls for approximately the past month.  Despite having spoken with the people on the other end four times to assure them I do not know the individual they are seeking, that she can't be reached at my phone number, and that they need to stop calling me, the message still hasn't gotten through.  Four days ago, when I got to a receptionist at the other end, I was very irate, and she hung up on me.  That was Friday, it is now Tuesday, and they called yet again yesterday, and again today.  The next time I get to one of the people at the other end of the line, I will repeat the information I gave before, and tell them if they do not stop harrassing me, they will be talking to the police.

repeated calls...no response from caller.....hangups....appears to be randomly searching phone numbers.....

I AM the person they are asking for, but I have tried calling numerous times, can't get a hold of anyone at all.  The message keeps coming, but I can't get a person on the line to see what exactly they want!!!!  Very frusrtrating because they call at like 8:30am oftentimes

Well, Ryan, you apparently aren't the only person they are asking about.  From the messages and conversations I've had with these idiots, they are seeking a "Marta Orta" on my number.  Coincidentally, about a year ago someone else was calling me, and looking for a "Martha Ortega."  Same number... very similar name...?  Hmmmmm

I've been playing around on the Internet in an attempt to discover more information about this firm.  After using ampersands instead of the word "and," I now have a URL for the company that is apparently behind these annoying phone calls.  If you go to "www.phillips-cohen.com, you can get further contact information.  I'm getting ready to send them an e-mail to stop bothering me, or I will be sending the police to their address to MAKE these fools stop.  Cross your fingers all you similarly harrassed...

I got a new number, and they keep calling me several times a day. I got the automated message, and I told them that it wasn't me. They said you had to stay on the line to be taken off the list, but I was on hold for over 10 minutes and then I just gave up.

West Virginia Sues New Jersey Bill Collector

Congress may have severely toughed bankruptcy laws, to the detriment of consumers, but state officials in West Virginia say bill collectors can't threaten and harass debtors. State Attorney General Darrell McGraw is taking an out of state collection agency to court, saying it may have violated West Virginia law.

McGraw has filed suit to compel Phillips & Cohen Associates, Ltd., a New Jersey collection agency, to comply with the Attorney General's investigative subpoena.

The Attorney General began investigating Phillips & Cohen's' debt collection practices after receiving complaints from consumers that it was threatening consumers with jail, discussing the alleged debts with persons other than the consumers, and attempting to collect money for debts that have already been paid.

Phillips & Cohen is not registered to do business in West Virginia and has not posted a bond, a requirement for all collection agencies doing business in the state.

"Rogue collection agencies will not be allowed to harass and threaten West Virginia consumers," McGraw said. "Any consumers who receive repeated telephone calls from debt collectors or have debt collectors threaten them with jail or criminal prosecution should contact my Consumer Protection Division".

I have been getting this call to and I would like to know has ANYONE found out a way to get htese people to stop if so please post this is a ongoing problem like everyone elce here.

These people are calling me too.  I am a subscriber to my phone company's "solicitor block" program ... but this COMPUTER voice seems to come through.  

I have just added them a manual block program from my phone company.

No matter what this is about ... I do not take COMPUTER voice calls telling me to press this or that.

what service does everyone have? i signed up with Sprint yesterday and got a call the next morning but never had this happen with any other service....

This is a collection agency out of Newark Delaware. Google Phillips and Cohen and Associates and once you get their address, get a Cease and Desist Letter from Google and send it to them by registered mail. This is the same way to get rid of ALL collection calls, as the law prohibits contact by collection agencies other than one last contact to state whether or not they will try to pursue the debt in court. None of them will so that will be that !!

I got a new phone number two weeks ago. I've been getting two to five calls per day from this number. I've never answered; the phone always go to voice mail. Yesterday, it finally left a message identifying themselves as a dept collector and telling me to call this number and reference a number.  

I'm sick of getting these calls; hence searching the Internet. I'm not sure what to do.

Debt collector using threats and several calls a day to harrass me over a debt that was charged off several years aGO.

I get this call from "Phillips & Cohen" debt collection agency. They have my name right but i really don't know whats its for. I am no older then 18 yet so i couldn't possibly have taken out a loan. What should I do?? These call come daily while I'm at school. They're so annoying. Please help. What should I do??
