- hginy replies to atReceived phony invoice for 2 toner cartridges for a total of $585.39. Tried calling the number listed on invoice and couldn't get through. Then I found this website about similar incidents. Called the local police to look into the scam.
- ak replies to tonerscami also recieved an invoice today that was for 2 toners that i never placed an order for! it shows on the invoice that i was the person who placed the order when i know for a fact that i did not! its from the same company (officecomp) and ive never heard of them before.
i remeber getting a call from a place that apparently sold toner and ink but when i started to ask them questions and "dig" a bit deeper they hung up and i never heard back from them. Then this morning i get this strange invoice. i figure its got to all be conected to the same scam!
im so glad there is a discusion board for this type of thing. i would have been totaly lost and confused with out it!
thanks! - KIRKLANDI wasn't the person who received a phone call but I handle the accounts payable out our firm. we received an invoice from these folks, no one here had heard from them. I tried calling and it is only a voice mail, that is full.
- Jane replies to tonerscamFrom the Federal Trade Commission Website:
You can protect your organization from paying for unordered goods and services. Here’s how:
1. Know your rights. If you receive supplies or bills for services you didn’t order, don’t pay, and don’t return the unordered merchandise. You may treat unordered merchandise as a gift. By law, it’s illegal for a seller to send you bills or dunning notices for unordered merchandise, or ask you to return it — even if the seller offers to pay for shipping. Further, if the seller sends you items that differ from your order in brand name, type, quantity, size, or quality — without your prior express agreement — you may treat the substitutions as unordered merchandise. Unordered services are treated the same way. However, first consider the possibility that the seller made an honest mistake.
