this is the fax number used by an apparent identity theft scam.  they called, claiming to be from the tax department, to demand proof of identity to continue receiving covid unemployment benefits, and wanted driver’s license, cancelled cheque, and utility bill faxed to this number.  and social insurance number, too.

Right, and we are supposed to believe you because you have a registered account?  Nope, doesn't work like that.  Scammers come here all the time to register accounts to make their scummy scam look legitimate.  So, in the spirit of the fact that you had absolutely no reason to look this number up I am reporting your post for purposely lying.

If you receive what may be a suspicious call from someone at CRA, obtain that person's contact information, then tell the person you will contact the main number for CRA and politely hang up.  Then when you call the main number for CRA and proceed through the process of speaking with an agent, the agent will be able to confirm with you if the call originated from a legitimate CRA employee or agent.

I had the same call description as Shloime. He asked for a bank check specimen and 2 identities proofs plus asked for revenus details on the declaration. He is even giving right CRA address and good CRA phone numbers so you can check it out. Watch out must have an employee connection inside CRA. Will not give you his agent number. Block them and report them to Anti-Fraud Centre.  No CRA employee will call you they will mail you what they need. Be extra careful
