persistent daily calls about an "urgent message"

constant phone messages asking to call office for urgent matter (solicitation).

This company has been calling my house a lot lately, so today I finally answered.  The recording stated my name and told me to stay on the line.  After a minute a live person told me he was calling for their client "Macy's" and I owed Macy's an outstanding debt.

I told him I never had an account with Macy's and he had the wrong guy.  He asked me some questions (not to personal of info & I gave him none just no or yes) like is your name (yes), is this birth year 19?? (no),  is your middle initial ? (no).  He told me that they made a mistake and said that they would take me off the call list.

With some more research on line I found out that they find everyone with the name they are looking for i.e. Bob Smith and then a computer calls ALL the Bob Smiths in the USA in the hopes they will find the right one.  What Bulls**t!!!

Let's hope they don't call again!

I have received as many as 6 calls in one day from 1-866-804-9796.  The one time I answered (weeks ago), someone with a heavy Indian accent asked to speak with Alice Miller.  When I told him there was no one here by that name, he argued with me.  I have been advised to buy an AIR HORN and the next time they call me, I will answer and use it.  They left 4 messages for "alice miller" with account number 12312552".  Never heard of these people or Alice Miller and I don't owe anyone any money.  I am registered with the DONOTCALL registry for all my phones, like that really helped.

I believe there are federal and state laws protecting people from harassment like this. I would talk to the person on the other end, get their name and forward to your local District Attorney for prosecution.
