- Sarah| 2 repliesNo one actually called from this company. It was on a mailer. They sent a letter telling an older woman I know that she has a loan with them that is overdue and that they are going to foreclose on her house. Her house has been paid off for years. When you call the number all representatives are busy and there is an option to leave your name and case number on the voicemail. I called the number just to check it out but did not leave any message. I told her not to call the number and that I am going to report it to the Maryland Division of Financial Regulation. The company information is supposedly:
The Government Loan Division of UCL (and they say the company name is United Capital when you call)
PO Box 7434
Baltimore, MD 21227
I believe this to be a scam. If you get something in the mail from them do not respond and report it to the proper authority.- Caller: United Capital a.k.a Government Loan Division of UCL
- Call type: Debt collector
- scambuster replies to SarahBeware!! This is certainly a scam. I received a letter from "Government Loan Division UCL" at the same MD address, with a phony "Case number" and "Approval number". The letter begins as follows:
"Dear (my name),
Our Government Loan Department recently forwarded a letter to you requesting an update on the status of the mortgage loan referenced above. Our records indicate that you have not responded and are seriously delinquent, facing foreclosure. We are requesting your help with updating and closing your file. Please contact us at once to resolve this matter. You may reach us toll free (866) 814-2566." etc., etc.
They go on to sing the benefits of their reverse mortgage program, saying "This may be your last opportunity to save your home". I owe less than $30K on my mortgage and I have never missed a payment. These people are the scum of the earth - I wouldn't call them in a million years. - Natale LiguoriI also received a the same letter. I am in Virginia. I have never been delinquent in my payments. I am checking where I need to report these people in VA. It sure sounds like a scam to me.

I would be happy to forward them to the appropriate office for review. - nancyjAdd one more to the list. I received a letter from them addressed to my late husband (3/2004). To my knowledge and with a lawyer's help, the property in Georgia was sold and the mortgage on the 'martial' property was paid off in its entirety in 2008.
I have previously not gotten any notifications from anybody about any problems with any mortgages, okay, the homeowner's loan has a CREDIT amount of about $0.25 on it.- Caller: Residential Relief Foundation, LLC
- Concerned family member of victim replies to SarahMy brother is a builder here in Louisville, KY. He was contacted because he has lost all of his properties and only has one house left. They offer to lower his house payment by $200. a month. They asked him for $1,400.00 and told him not to pay his house payment this month because he would now be paying them. He gave them his debit card and they took this money out of his account. He didn't pay his house payment and now they have his $money from his account. He is now driving a cab for a living and when he went to the bank to report this company, they said they would investigate but he wouldn't have the money for approximately 3 months if at all. I think these people should go to jail for stealing and victimizing desperate people who really need lower morttgage rates.
