- Allyson| 6 repliesI didn't answer at 8:30 in the morning, but I called back to see who they were. Some company called Astra Business Services was trying to reach a person named Maria "about a business matter". No one by that name lives in my home. The rep couldn't explain the matter or how my number got in their files but said he would remove it right away. We'll see.

- harvnhoutxThey call every day. I don't answer private, unknown or 866 numbers. Look 'em up on Google. If they choose to hide their number or don't leave a message, I don't care who they are. I know one thing though. If they truly wanted to get in touch with me, they would leave a message, but they never do.

- yeayea667I got a call from 866-823-1370 on June 29th. He left a message saying that it was Jose and to please call him back at ext 1066.

- Why did They Call?| 1 replyThe caller ID came up as "Out of Area" and the rep was looking for someone with my last name, but he did not know the first name of the person that he was calling. He said that he was with Astra Business Services and needed to discuss an "Important Business Matter."
He tried to confirm our address, which the one in their system is where we lived 6 years ago. When I told him that he needed to give me a first name of the person that he was calling, he apologized and hung-up on me.- Caller: Astra Business Services
- FaciaThis person (who spoke accented English, from possibly India) called from 866-823-1670 and immediately wanted to confirm my address, which was some P.O. box. I stopped him right away and told him I didn't accept unsolicited calls. He said it wasn't an unsolicited call, that it had to do with my health. I then told him that is was an unsolicited call, because I did not ask him to call me. I asked him who he represented and all he would tell me was that it was for my health. I told him again that I didn't take unsolicited calls, and to remove my number from his call list. He again insisted that this was, "for my health", so I told him if he didn't quit and remove my number, I would report him. He got huffy then and said something like, "Fine! Be well."
I'm wondering if these type of calls are an increasing trend. Two weeks ago I received a similar call from an outfit named, "Redline Recovery". However, this caller sounded like a middle-aged or older American woman, but she did say she was calling about some debt. She then tried to confirm my name, but even though my first and last names were correct (which I didn't confirm to her, though), the middle initial was wrong. Also, the address she had on record was one I'd never heard of. Best I could figure out, there was someone with my same first and last name they were trying to reach. At least when I told her that I wanted my name removed from her call list she complied. To do so, she wanted me to state that I wasn't the person she was looking for. She also gave me the name of her company, name, and operator ID.
I have a non-published number and previously entered it on the, "Do Not Call", registry, so I'm disturbed by these unsolicited calls, and how they've obtained my number and know my name. - w| 1 replyThese people call my cell phone at least once a day! I never answer and they never leave a voice mail. Is there anyway to get them to stop calling without actually answering the phone when they call?
- GPThey call somedays up to 5 or 6 times per day. It rings 1 or 2 times then they hang up. I have yet to answer it when there was someone on the other end. Usually it is just silence and then goes dead. One time a person wss on the line that I couldn't understand due to a very heavy foreign accent. Last month's cell bill showed 80+ calls. Does anyone know how to get them to stop? I have finally stopped answering when I see the caller ID. Now the same company has started calling and it shows "no data". I answered one time and got the same routine as above. So I've stopped answereing all "no data" or "out of area" calls.

- JenThis number calls every day for my grandmother who moved out ten years ago. they say it is regarding a "financial matter" but won't say anything else. Our number is on the do not call list. It's pretty bad when they're calling on Saturday mornings.

- RJCaller, or callers, call about every morning to every other morning between 7 to 10 AM. They never say what they are calling about, or give the name of their Firm for whom they work for, or are calling for. Did a google search on the phone number, appears to be a company by the name of Astra Business Services. This appears to be their website www.astraglobal.com as I found the same number listed at that site that has been calling my residence for the past 3 months. Also shows to have an address located in India, so this confirms on the callers accent. Hope this info helps someone else.

- CLD| 1 replyHave been receiving call on my cell phone from this number on a daily basis for several days. They had not been leaving a message until today. Today, a text message was left requesting a call back to 866-823-1670. I do not have text messaging as a part of my cell phone plan, so each text message (sent or received) is billed to my cell phone bill. If I wanted to receive text messages I would have included texting in my plan. Any idea on how to get rid of these calls?
- JkI got a call from someone in accented English. She said her name was Summer Casey or something like that. She asked me to call her at extension 2173. I'm not calling back, to say the least!
- Confused recipientBeen called at work on my direct line. I haven't personally received any of the calls and I have no idea how they got my direct # here. There were messages left on my vm. They seem to call at odd times, except today when they called around 3pm PDT. This is obviously a collection company. I do have a couple of outstanding accounts on my credit report unfortunately. Otherwise, I'm pretty good, up to date on all my bills. However one thing I did learn is that even though you may have a debt from over 7 year prior, and it is therefore erased from your credit report, creditors still try to collect the debt.
- TOMA person with an Indian voice called and asked me to verify the last four digits of my social security number which I refused to do. He then asked me to verify my address which I also refused to do. When I asked who he was he answered that it was a financial matter and that they had sent me recent correspondence. I told them to get lost and hung up. They later called me the next day at work trying to get information from the office manager which also failed.

- jtwlhfthey called us and said their name Alex Hunt and he left a phone number. but didn't say what the call was about. This is getting rediculous how many of these idiots call. Thank goodness for answering machines.
- TruthI just got a new cell phone and have been receiving calls from this number non-stop. I have filed a complaint and have requested that they do not call several times. It doesn't seem to work w/ these people!

- tuyen| 6 repliesIt's a collection agency.
Whenever somebody says it's "an important business matter" or "personal business matter", that's your one and only clue that you need which tells you it's a lowlife collection agency.
There are laws in each state and province that limits how many times they can contact you. Find out what the laws are for where you live, and then act accordingly. In some states, they're not allowed to call you anymore once you've told them to stop. In other states, they require something from you in writing telling you not to call anymore. In Canada, most provinces have it set up so that they can't call you anymore once you tell them you don't want to talk to them anymore and they should take the matter to court. In 99% of the cases, they will leave you alone rather than go to court for small amounts. The only time they will pursue it further is if you owe somebody thousands of dollars, and if they KNOW that you have money in your bank accounts or if you have a high-paying job where they can garnish your wages. But for small amounts like a few hundred dollars, you have a choice of either paying the bill, or telling them to go to hell. They will try to coerce you (although sometimes it sounds like an outright threat) by telling you that if you don't call them back by a certain time or if you don't pay by a certain date, your credit rating will be affected. But this is a bold-faced lie because by the time a collection agency is calling you, your credit rating is ALREADY affected...so it makes absolutely no difference. - INFORMED| 1 replyThe number is indeed for a collection agency. If you want the calls to stop simply return the phone call ask to speak to a manager or supervisor, give them the number they phoned and request no further calls. However, if you request communication to cease be prepared for further action to ensue which may include legal rememdies to recover a bad debt. If you owe money it is your moral obligation to pay it back. If the company has the wrong number, believe me that do not want to waste their time or resources in calling and recalling. People who collect bad debts are not low lifes, but the people who don't do the right thing and pay back what the owe can be consider to be.

- informed replies to tuyen| 5 repliesyou are sadly mistakes in several of your comments and are giving bad wrong information to the public. often accounts placed with collection agencies haven't been reported to the credit reporting agencies. often arrangements can be secured to prevent that from happening. if an account has been reported you can pay it and have your credit updated and begin to improve your credit score. it makes a whole lot of difference whether or not you honor your obligations. on may levels, morally and personally. there is peace of mind in doing the right thing. It is not OK to do the wrong thing and not be honorable because you can get away with it.
- Tess2013I, too, receive calls from these people every single day on my cell phone. Sometimes they call in the middle of the night! Nobody is ever there, no messages are left. It couldn't be more annoying.
