- Mary| 1 replyit is a pharmacy group who reviews your medications you are taking it is a courtesy through summacare health insurance
- Annoyed| 10 repliesClaimed to be from Pharm MD working with your HMO to review your meds. THIS IS A SCAM!!!!
In the first place your meds are confidential information. In the second place Pharm MD is a for profit company, probably looking to have you switch to them as a provider. Third, you can't expect a legitimate business to do this over the phone w/o first consulting with one's doctor. Last, you have no idea of the qualifications of the person on the phone. Using the phone like this allows them to prey on seniors and the less competent. It is a disgusting practice. Don't talk to these people and don't give them any private information.- Caller: Pharm MD

- Joan replies to Annoyed| 6 repliesI got call today from this numbrr and looked thwm up online and found alot of insurance companies routinely outsource jobs to third party companies I know of at least 4 off hand. It's not illegal and a well known practice in fact I believe that they have to disclose they are working on behalf of insurance. Also I looked up this PharmMD and they have web and Facebook page and positive reviews on Glass door and Indeed. So company is legit. I would suggest rather than making unfounded claims you do a little research. When I called back they also suggested if I ever have questions about any calls that I contact number on my insurance card to verify, so hardly seems like a scam. But some people just aren't as tenacious as me researching and looking up things.
- BigA replies to Joan| 5 repliesWhat, are you the company cheerleader? Having a website and Facebook page doesn't make them legit, nor does it show that they are competent. These people are cold calling for some reason and want to discuss your medications with you? Why? People get prescriptions from doctors and go to pharmacies to pick up medications. Both the doctor and the pharmacist are managing those medications, not some flunky hired off the street that probably barely knows what an aspirin is used for. Further, I note that on the web page of that "legit" company they are talking about how managing medications is a five billion dollar industry. I wouldn't suggest that anyone talk to these people.

- Pharmacist replies to BigA| 4 repliesPMD does not cold call patients. Your insurance plan provides all contact info/medical info and we educate patients on their medications and compliance w/ their meds. We are all either licensed pharmacists, pharmacy techs or registered nurses who all have extensive clinical experience. Our expertise on medications also is utilized to educate MDs, nurse Practitioners. The company was founded by Clayton McWhorter who was CEO for HCA in early days.
If patients would take their medications as prescribed, we would not call. But what you don’t know is we also try to help patients with transportation to pick up their medication or change to mail order if your plan offers it.
You really have no clue what you are talking about. - BigA replies to Pharmacist| 1 replyWe out scammers like you around here everyday. Guess what is going to happen now? Your boss is going to be so thrilled that you put this scam company on our radar. I certainly do have a clue about what I am talking about. Tell me, why are you here? Slow day scamming people or did your boss send you here to do damage control?

- Tygerkat replies to PharmacistIf you don't cold call, that means the insurance company has told the patient you'll be calling, right? And yet people don't have a clue. Explain that.
- Legit replies to Annoyed| 1 replyPharmMD is not a scam and they are not trying to get you to switch to them as a provider because they are not a provider. They are a medication therapy management company contracted with multiple different insurance companies that specialize in certain medications and call members that are on those medications. You can call your insurance company and ask them if they are contracted with PharmMD.
- Lady replies to LegitWhen you call your insurance to verify PharmMD make sure it's the correct number, My insurance company couldn't ID 866-850-4159.This is likely a scam.
- Very Annoyed replies to PharmacistScam or not, it's almost to the point of harassment. I think they need to quit calling and bothering people. You said, if people would take their meds correctly, you wouldn't have to call. Just how do you know who's taking them right or wrong? If you guys would quit calling I wouldn't have to write this message. The FCC might be interested in this annoyance. I'm not answering my phone if I don't know recognize the number.
