866-860-6241

This number is supposedly from Sprint. The person left a message about an order we placed and needed us to call with more information so they can process the order. We never placed an order with Sprint and don't use them for anything. The person called and left four messages. Caller ID numbers varied from Information (800-555-1212) to Out of Area.

We got the same type of call from this same number (866-860-6241).  "Sprint Sales Support" called us on a Saturday morning (earlier today).  They asked for our credit card number to verify the order, which we refused to provide.  We asked instead for an order reference number, and got one, so we told them we'd call the Sprint fraud department ourselves to check it out.  We'll probably call Monday to make sure but given what I've seen from Googling, this is almost certainly a scammer at work.

I received the same type of call today. They left a message saying they were from sprint. I know I never ordered anything. I called back, feeling that they were up to no good. The message left a confirmation number so fast that you would have to ask about it. They said they could confirm the order if I could give them my social security number. I asked them what they were trying to pull and that they were up to no good. No reputable company would ask you for your social security number.

Got the same call.. a lady called about "my account" and I was suspicious from the start because she was addressing me by my maiden name, and didnt have my married name on file (really? thats odd, been married 5 1/2 years now only had sprint two!) She was saying an "order" had been placed although she couldnt tell me what the contents of the order consisted of which was the second red flag. I didnt give her a chance to ask for my ss# or cc info as others here have stated, I told her I would call thier fraud dept and clear things up myself. Had I known for sure that this was a scam, I would have definately given her a piece of my mind. I didnt want to cuss her out in the event that it really was Sprint calling about a fraudulent charge... oh well i will be prepared next time!!

Same as above, allegedly a Sprint order, left a message on voicemail.  I called back and got a lady who talked too fast, so twice I asked her to slow down and repeat.  She finally hung up.  I knew it was a scam to begin with, but called Qwest, which used to have Sprint cell phone service.  They said it was not them.  I did previously have a Sprint phone, but years ago.  I did not call them back on the same phone # they called to.

I too, received a message from this number, super fishy.  Same deal, said I ordered something- I clearly didn't.  These people need to get a friggin real job.

ok... this really is sprint calling to verify an order that has been placed, you may not have been the person that placed the order with your information but you really should talk to them so that this can be investigated

I call BS... it's a call center preying on the stupid.

They say they're sprint, but it's not a Sprint-badged employee... just some callcenter hack that gets paid minimum wage to convince you that you need to buy something from them.

Its a real number I placed an order with them and they verified it. No need to be alarmed

I just received a call from this number and had just placed an order on Sprint's website to upgrade my phone.  When I answered, I heard voices in the background, but no one came on the line.  It just disconnected.

I received a call today on my cellphone from someone who said they were with Sprint from the 866-860-6241 and they left a message stating they needed more information to complete an order.  I had not ordered anything from Sprint.  I called the number back and was told they could not find an order in my name and that could they check under my social security number? I am almost certain this is a scam.

Just got a call from a friend today about this. She just ordered Sprint service over the weekend and got a call from this number and another, 866-820-6241. Both were from people with thick accents asking her to verify information or else her order would be cancelled. They also tried to sell her additional lines. They had some of her information which confused her so she ended up giving them her SSN in full and other credit card info.
This sounded very odd so I called Sprint and they told me that 866-860-6241 IS NOT a customer service number of theirs. Furthermore, they reinforced that they would NEVER ASK for a full SSN. They only verify the last 4 numbers of any number they need. They put a fraud alert on her new account and I told my friend to put one on her credit.
Sounds like a phishing scam like we see all the time in emails. They get some info of your and call trying to get the rest and it was probably a coincidence that she just opened an account with Sprint. I suspect other carriers see a different number and get the same line. I hope that Sprint has not been compromised with web orders, but most likely it's just a mass calling scam.

Received a call from this number this morning.  It was in reference to service I ordered online through Sprint.  Legit number.

Got a call from this number requesting I call them back within 48 hours about an order I placed or they would cancel the order. The person who left the message had a thick accent and I couldn't understand where he said he was calling from. I called the number and said I hadn't ordered anything recently. I got the same person with a thick accent who wanted more information from me so he "could look up my order'. I refused to give it to them, they were definitely up to no good!

I got this call on a Saturday morning, too. However, unlike many here, I *DID* place an order with Sprint and have been working on faxing documentation to them regarding my business. When I picked up the line, though, nobody was there.
