How many times do you press 2 for these idiots... - kateI've signed up for tons of free samples of stuff online lately and gave them all my number... has anyone else done this? Maybe it was one of those places giving our number out? Just an idea.
- KatieGot a call today from this number. They got my name right, and (perhaps stupidly) i pressed one. Was put on hold for a bit before i decided that was bullsh*t-they called me after all and hung up. Called back and its something that sounded like pella recovery something. Never heard of them and shouldnt have any collections ppl after me so I'll ignore them now.

- Chris| 1 replyI pressed one because I like to screw with people. The company name is Stellar Recovery, 888-613-0234 and the agent that called me was Greg Whitman. They said I had a collection from Comcast Cable, which made me laugh because I've never had Comcast before.
I asked that he send me proof that I owe and he refused. I told him never to call, which I'm sure he will try. I use a google number though and just block them. Wah ha ha!- Caller: Stellar Recovery

- Jimbo replies to ChrisStellar recovery called me and also said I had a Comcast account. I never have had a Comcast account or lived in Sacramento at the address they named. I immediately filed a police report of credit theft and faxed to to Stellar recovery as they said I should. Then the lying started. They told me three different stories about how supposedly they did not get the fax, each very different then the other. It was obvious something was awry. I contacted the credit reporting agencies and got my reports. The only weird thing on there was a new listing from Stellar recovery. It is illegal to report to a credit agency without validating a debt. And they had reported the debt 3 times each time we spoke. This is called 'running of the debt report' and also is illegal. They also did not list the alleged debt as disputed which legally they are supposed to.
They never at no time mailed me anything, nothing. Within 5 days of contacting me they are supposed to send information of how to validate the debt if I choose. I wrote them a letter on my own asking for validation. They did not respond in 30 days. I called Comcast to try to get details and COMCAST HAD NO IDEA ON ANY ACCOUNT ATTACHED TO MY PHONE NUMBER as Stellar recovery told me. They in fact said it was the 'only phone number associated with this account". I then sent Stellar a second letter (both certified) telling them about their violation and demanding they remove the negative false report from my credit. Again no response in 30 days.
Report Stellar recovery to the police the FTC and your state attorney Generals office. There will be class action suits in the future. There is some sort of scam here. I just filed suit against them directly in my local court. I am entitled to 1000 bucks for each violation of my rights they have done, and intend to get it. - XeeGood to know what these calls are about. Thanks to you all. They have called for months (not answered) about someone I knew who died nearly three years ago. They sometimes call from a local number and leave this number to call back and sometimes from this number or one close to this number sequence. If the person had a unpaid debt with someone, maybe the collectors could check the obituaries before calling their personal associations. All this stuff about them getting the accounts mixed up and placing incorrect negative credit information on reports is very concerning, given how we are driven by credit ratings in this culture. How did we get here and why did we come to this level of business/consumer consistent nonsense?

- patrickThese guys are a joke. they called me said they had a message for gary....then mumbled the last name. Went on to say I should not listen if I was not gary.course I did. - pamelaI've been getting these calls for a few months now. For the first 4-5 times I just deleted the message. Happened to listen to it last time and they said it was about a debt recovery. Well, fortunately, I don't have any debt of that type. so I was going to continue to ignore it, and then I know there is someone with the same name as mine that has monetary trouble as the state has called for her or to weed me out that I'm not her, so I thought about calling and straightening it out....but then my daughter told me about these numbers and checking it out on Google, which I'm doing, so I guess I should check my credit report and otherwise ignore it. wonder how they can call when I have do not call on my phones??? Altho I've read where when we agree to get email from companies, there is something hidden that says we're also giving them permission to call even tho we have 'do not call'.

- Sick&TiredI received a message from a number that came through on my cellphone as 312-878-8627. I did not answer but they left me a message asking me to call back to 1-866-860-8796. They said they were a debt collector attempting to collect a debt. The company name is Stellar Recovery Incorporated. I don't even have any outstanding debts but they were asking for me. I won't be calling them back but if they call again and I get a chance to answer, they will be informed not to call me again or else I will seek legal assistance to keep them from doing so.
