Citibank automated number

Some music (tune) like a news broadcast and they said "Cerino"? and to call them with the code (same thing as previous). They did not say "Citibank" at any time so I'm doubting it's Citibank...

Got a call from this number and a code.  Entered the code when asked, it said that I have to start paying my student loan in the next few weeks (which is true), and to verify my identity to input my Zip code, which I did.  It gave me a couple numbered options:

1) to pay this loan as planned, press 1
2) to explore payment options, press 2
3) if you are unable to pay, press 3

I pressed 2, guy came on the line and said "Customer Service" (nowhere in this call did anyone say Citibank) and asked for my name, which I gave, and then asked me for my SSN, at which point I stopped him and said that I wasn't giving my SSN on a call that solicited me without any identifying info, and that I was aware of my payment and it's due date, and that I'd make the payment when it was due.  He said "OK, just a courtesy call."  and that was the end of it.  This number is not the same number as on studentloan.com, but of course Citibank has probably 1 million numbers, not all of which are listed, but it didn't seem right to me.

I got the same call, called Citi and they had no records of this call. Seems shady

Just got a call from this number.  I already received a hardcopy notification of the ending of my loan's grace period, so I guess this is an electronic back-up.  Still, it was a weird message that made it seem like you needed to call back the number ASAP or else.  Why is Citibank so cryptic about communication regarding customer questions yet pretty explicit when it comes to the nuts and bolts of paying them?
