I recieved a text message stating "PSCU Financial Services: member action required. call free 8669073828." The number given does not match the PSCU phone number on the website

Receive text from PSCU Financial service at 9:45 AM 2/28/2008. Message "Member Action Required" Call free 8669073828.  I have no idea what this is.

I just got the same text message.

Called the number back, and it immediately wants 'three' additional pieces of information.  The first piece of information was my credit card number followed by the pound key.  That's about as far as I let any scam go.  Don't know what happens next, but I would'nt be so quick to give my credit card number to any voice recording.

I called my credit union this morning as I also received this message on Saturday, 2/28. Although PSCU Financial Services is a legitimate company that does business with credit unions, this message is definitely a scam. As I suspected, my credit union told me they'd never, ever contact me via text message - only telephone or US Mail.

It's especially tricky because PSCU Financial Services actually contracts with credit unions to provide member services after normal business hours. One thing they *would* do is notifiy a member about fraud on a credit/debit card.

I just got off the phone with the real PSCU Financial Services. This is definitely a scam and they know about it, although they do not know how these scammers got the information to contact us. She said people are receiving telephone calls, emails, and cell phone text messages.

They had one instance a couple of weeks ago where one small town was hit. People were contacted whether or not they were affiliated with their local credit union. This makes them suspect that they're blind-contacting people in regions via bought and sold contact databases.
