Yah they are a SCUMBAG make believe law firm ( read that as collection agency ) that should be investigated by the Ontario Provincial Police and the provinces Consumer and Corporate Affairs.

They engage in phone harassment and do not provide any human on their phone line when they reach you.  They do their pre-recorded message and drop the line.   They keep phoning you until YOU phone them.   And they don't seem to give a crap that they may be phoning some name other than the one they keep phoning.

My name is Smith.  They want some guy Fartmonger.  I am Smith.. so why the heck should I be calling them to tell them that I am not Fartmonger and I have no idea who Fartmonger is ?

Turns out these guys are deadbeat chaser for Goodlife Fitness studios.  They are using this scummy collection agency to shake the bushes and try to find people who have money owing to Goodlife Fitness.

The only thing I have learned from all this is that Goodlife Fitness must be pretty crappy if so many people are breaching their contracts and walking out on them.  And they must be pretty crappy to have a scum bag collection agency using such odd phone harassment techniques.

    Lawyers my a$$ !

My wife has been receiving calls from this fraudulent office for sometime now regarding a Good Life Membership. In fact, Good Life has stated that there is no problem and her account is cleared.

On every occasion it has been impossible to reach anybody at this supposed law office of Casey Van Morlen. Today, somebody did answer and started to tell my wife to pay the $100 dollars. My wife continued to tell the lady that she does not owe Good Life anything.

I will be filing an official complaint with the Ontario Consumer Protection Branch regarding this company.

Also, I have looked up the names of some of the people mentioned in the hotline and none of them come up in the Ontario Law Society Lawyer database.

    very annoyed
I keep getting the same call "This message is for ___ regarding an important business matter. Please call back extension 3, quoting file number ____."
I had a Goodlife membership as well, but I canceled it and I was told I could pay my cancellation fee whenever it was suitable for me.
I started getting these harassing call. I didn't know these messages and my Goodlife membership had anything to do with each other until I started looking it up on the net.
I've called back 3-4 times leaving a message asking what the hell its about. I keep getting this annoying message with no real answers. I payed my cancellation fee a long time ago, so it's not like I own Goodlife any money.

I had the same cal and they are also calling me regarding some other poor shmoe. Their system advises you a counsellor will be with you shortly to assist you. I had a GoodLife membership several years ago and cancelled it. They continued to try to take money from my account through automated withdrawal and i took issue with it and had it resolved.

These clowns started calling me about 3 months ago, and then i started getting calls for someone else about 2 months ago!

I will be reporting them this week for a variety of reasons from misrepresentation to harassment.

I have been getting the same phone message on my cell phone every day for over a week now. At first I thought it was just voice message spam, but started wondering if there was something more to it. Finally I had enough today, and called back the 1-866-916-4366 ext. 2. I actually got to speak to a live person and told her that I keep getting this message for some unknown person, and she told me that they would remove my number from their file. I've never had a membership at or even set foot in a Good Life Fitness club!! I'll keep my fingers crossed and hope that's the end of it.

    casey who?
I have received 2 of these messages so far "about an important business matter".  Ext 3 wanted me to leave a daytime number for them to contact me.

I too was a member of Goodlife (by default after Bally's) and I cancelled my membership in December 07, received a note from the club about an amount owing. Having gone back and forth with the club and the Membership experience department, I have explained that I cancelled my membership and I don't owe anything.  This is really annoying to find out that this message is related to them because as far as I am concerned the matter is closed.  They are a real piece of work.

I just got a phone call from them today. I had a Goodlife membership, I cancelled it, and I paid off my fees. My fees were a bit late, however when I talked to Goodlife they said that noone was going to bother me anymore. This is ridiculus, I am  really hoping they dont call again, but the way others are talking about them I should prolly expect a few more phone calls. A$$holes!

My parents just received a call from Robin Robero in the last hour. Imagine the concern they had when a law firm is calling them and looking for me. By the way, I am 44 years old with children. They only left a prerecorded message, and Robin asked me to return her call. I have tried approx. 20 times leaving messages and recording my own to them. It was only after a search of the phone number that I was able to locate this site...thank goodness!! I owe $100 to Goodlife and had gone into the location in order to pay months ago. They were unable to process a payment for every reason imaginable and I was extremely frustrated. I then asked that the manager phone me about the incident, and I even had the girl at the desk write out what happened and sign it for me. I never again heard from Goodlife...not a letter, not a call, nothing. I have no problem paying this amount, however I am outraged that Goodlife took this route instead of contacting me directly. ONCE GOODLIFE SENDS THIS OVER TO THIS COMPANY, THIS THEN BECOMES A BLACK MARK ON YOUR CREDIT RATING!! This is very difficult IF NOT IMPOSSIBLE to repair. Yes, I am disgusted by this company. However, I am HORRIFIED THAT GOODLIFE IS JUST PASSING ALONG FILES TO THIS COMPANY THAT WILL EFFECT OUR CREDIT RATINGS FOR YEARS TO COME.

ACTION NEEDS TO BE TAKEN BY CONTACTING GOODLIFE DIRECTLY ALONG WITH THE ONTARIO CONSUMERS PROTECTION ACT. YOU CAN FILE ON LINE!! PLEASE GO AFTER GOODLIFE!! THEY SHOULD NEVER AGAIN GET YOUR BUSINESS OR ANYONE ELSE YOU ARE ABLE TO WARN ABOUT GOODLIFE'S RECKLESS BEHAVIOR!! PLEASE TAKE ACTION!!!

I honestly don't think everyone is getting the big picture here when it comes to credit scores, and just how one report like this can be the difference of getting a loan, credit card, car, ect. and having it turned down for years to come.

GOODLIFE IS "NO GOOD"!! I AM GOING  TO THE STAR AND I ENCOURAGE YOU TO DO THE SAME!!

And just as a side note, I did phone Goodlife directly after looking at this site. I was only able to connect to a message board. They have not yet returned my call...they are THE REAL SCUMBAGS!! The other company is making their $5 bucks for their stupid harrasement calls, and they will go out of business if enough of us report them to the Ontario Consumer Protection Branch. Goodlife will eventually be forced to drop them with enough pressure, and no one will hire this company with reports numerous reports against them.

UPDATE: I have sent a copy of the above along with a letter to Goodlife, and I would like to encourage anyone who has trouble to do the following...Contact Goodlife Customer Service, David Patchell-Evans the President of Goodlife, The Fitness Industry Council of Canada along with the Ontario Consumer Protection Branch. Be sure to keep any and all documents along with all voice recordings should you need them.

I will be starting a BLOG reporting the events that have happened along with what follows next. Fortunately, I do have the time to make this a priority. It will also have links to the sites you will need to visit in order to report this to everyone who can take action. Goodlife is accountable for their actions as long as "we" hold them accountable. I have ordered a copy of my credit report, and I will be posting the blackmark by Goodlife on this site as well as my BLOG and every other site that is pertinent. Again, this type of reckless behavior can affect you for years to come!! Keep tuned in for a link to my BLOG...coming soon. And, more importantly, take action against Goodlife!!

UPDATE: I spoke with Stephanie at Goodlife at 3:30pm today. According to Stephanie, she is the only single representative that I am able to speak to at Goodlife. In other words, it stops with her. Unfortunately for Goodlife she was very uninformed about the Consumers Protection Act. She was surprised and unconviced that consumers have rights that are protected by the act. She did give me her guarantee that the collection agency had explict instructions not to contact the Credit Bureau, and that she would personally guarantee that they did follow the instructions. I am now waiting for a copy of the credit report, and I suspect that this company did make a claim on my credit report. I will definitely keep this site updated with what shows up. I would strongly urge that everyone else with the same problem do the same.

I also have made calls to the collection agency over 30 times leaving numerous messages. I requested specific information such as address and fax number. They in turn only called back twice. They refuse to leave any of the requested information. This is all part of the Consumers Protection Act, and they have clearly broken it. They have once again phoned my parent's number leaving personal information. This also breaks the act. From their first phone call to the last I have left my phone numbers each and every time and stated that they not call the other number. This also breaks the act. Stephanie feels that this company represents Goodlife in the very best light. I pointed out that she may want to pass me onto someone that has more knowledge, however she refused to do it.

Stephanie insists that they sent me a letter in March and April. I never received such a letter, and this would be the first time I have not received a letter from anyone ever. If it were one letter, then I might understand that there was the remote possibility it was lost. However, two letters lost in the mail are against all odds. Stephanie then told me it was up to me to prove that I did not get the letters...huh?? In turn, she stated that as long as they stated it was sent then that was all that needed to be done on their end. Overall, she has made a point to reinforce Goodlife's reckless behavior.

Please contact me with a reply if you would also like to take action.

I used to work for a collection agency and you are wrong about a few things-- 1. they are a law firm and they are not govern by the collection agency act. 2. No agency can report to the bureau without the clients consent so if she says it wasn't done- most likely wasn't. 3. I dont understand your issue? Do you owe the money? Did they harass you at work? If you have a bill that needs to be paid.. pay it .. You never once say if you had a balance that needs to be paid..

Yes, I am on here because I owe too. I spoke with Robyn and we have an arrangement to clear the balance..

    cancelled, but still getting calls
I received a call this morning from this "law office" concerned I call only to get a voicemail so I tried to look up what type of law this office might practice only to find out that they are collecting for a bill that I in no way owe.  I had a serious problem with Goodlife I signed up with all good intentions but about 6 days later I called and cancelled my membership knowing that I would not be able to reap the full benefits and the cost of 52 dollars a month was too much as far as I am concerned to pay to use the gym maybe once a week.  I travel a lot of for to different meetings, etc.  I am outraged that after 6 months I am getting this call.  Who do I call to conplain.  I spoke to Goodlife in March when they sent me an invoice and told them I wasnt paying them anything because I cancelled my member a long time ago and had paid my first month in full.
I am frustrated I have been working hard to rebuild my credit rating after being extremely careless with it and taking any credit I could get...I dont want this mark on my credit rating because some company is to incompetant to check their records because just shipping people "lives" off to collection agencies.

I also am having an issue with Goodlife Fitness.

I was away on a military exercise for 3 months and thus was unable to open my mail. My parents had control of my mail and paid my bills while I was away. (Never thought that I had to inform them to open up my Gym mail as well).  Two days after I get back, I receive a call from the same law firm.  I called Goodlife and learned that my account was canceled because they were unable to get money from my account. (Odd since I always have a few thousand in the account).  They kept charging my my bi-weekly fees without withdrawing the money.  Then sent a letter informing me of a cancellation. (Which of course I never received since I was away). A simple phone call would or rectified the entire issue before reaching this big a of SNAFU.

I went to the Gym itself, explain (and proved) that I was away when the letter was sent.  They apologized, re-instated the account, waived the cancellation fee and I paid the months that I owed them($156.00). Everything between me and the gym was okay.  Now, bring in the Goodlife head office. They do *NOT* want to waive the cancellation fee and say that my contract is NOT valid since the Gym does not have the authority nor the right to waive the fee or to re-instate an account.

So.... The gym wants its 99$ EVEN if it means losing a customer who wants to keep his account!?!  They informed me that I have to cancel my current account (that was re-instated in error by the gym), pay the 99$, NOT get refunded the current MONTH If non-legal contract that I signed PLUS reopen a new account (plus fees) if I want to stay a member... Yeah right...

Instead, I'm going demand a refund for the $156.00 plus the month I've paid (since the contract is not legal) And *TRY* to let them hit my credit...  I'll have that credit hit turned over without an issue...

This is NOT a way a business should treat clients that want to REMAIN with them... I'm the perfect client.. I only go there to use the treadmill when its winter or raining.....  I don't use any other equipment..
