A very nervous sounding voice left msg that there may be fraudulent activity on my account & asked me to return call.  The message assured me that anyone who answered would gladly help & that future activity on my account would be denied if I didn't confirm that I made a transaction.  And, she said to have my account number ready.  How stupid do they think I am?

This is a legit Citibank credit card customer service number.
I called the number on the back of my card to be safe and they told me that I had a couple of unauthorized charges. I had to cancel my card.

Fine to be on the safe side but call your credit card customer service using the number you know.
It doesn't make sense to be paranoid about a service call but then not be paranoid about credit card fraud actually happening to you.

On my land line answering machine, I received a phone call asking me to return a phone call to 1-866-930-3149 about fraud on credit card.  I called the number on the back of the credit card, which is different from this.  Indeed, the credit card company did want to speak to me about possible fraudulent charges.

I received a call on my land line answering machine asking me to phone 866-930-3149 about possible fraudulent charges to my credit card.  Instead, I phoned the number on the back of my card.  Yes, there were attempts on my credit card - a small one for under $3 followed by one from Thailand for $2500 airline tickets.  The credit card company had already rejected the travel agency charge and will also cancel the $2 charge; they thought it was a test run on the card.

A message was left on my answering machine to call 866-930-3149 about possible fraud on my credit card.  I logged into my account online first, and found an urgent message there to contact my credit card company.   There were two fraudulent charges on my card.   The person I spoke with also made mention of one legitimate charge that was made 3 days earlier;  in fact this was the last legitimate charge made.  So I believe this number is genuine, especially in view of what others have said about it as well.

I just called the number on the back of my credit card and spoke with a representative to verify that my account was closed as was discussed with the person I spoke with when I call 866-930-3149.   All is well.  This number is from the credit card fraud department, and that is why it is different from the number on the back of the card, which is the customer service department.   Still, although I now know that this 866 number is legitimate, it is still a better idea to call the number on the back of the card first, instead of using a number someone gives you over the phone.   I should have thought of that first.

The phone number is legit. If you call the number on the back of your card and give the last four numbers of your account when asked, you are immediately transferred to the Fraud Dept. of CITI. Not to worry, but it's best to call the number on your card first.

Scam caller stating I had fraudulent charges on my CitiBank card. Then asked me to verify the card number, exp, and CVS. When I declined to provide that to them, they got upset. I hung up and called CitiBank by using the number on the back of my card and they advised this was a scammer.
