Someone with East Indian  accents called my 89 year old mother identified himself as "Damien Hunter"  and told her he  was  from "Shawn Communications", and talked some technical gobbledygook which she did not understand. She thought the call was from "Shaw Communications", her legit telephone and internet provider, and  asked them to call her son, i.e. myself. Fortunately, she did not divulge any info about herself. The  person declined to call me on   on the grounds that my area code is different than hers, but gave her the number 866-936-7466, to call back. She then phoned me and I phoned that number. I got  an automated telephone extension dialer ,  which  asked for an extension number or to spell out the desired party's name on my tel handset . It did not recognize "Shawn" or "Hunter", but connected me with someone who said his name was "Neil". I asked what thier company name was . Answer:  "Shawn Communications" (but sounded like "Shaw"). I asked him to spell the company name   and he did not come back with an immediate answer  but  said "yes"when I spelled out  "S-H-A-W-N"  Then he spoke  some nonsense about   "Global Communications" issues they have solved, and claimed to have  solved  problems in England, Europe etc, and said could help us.  What he  said to me  had no real  content of any technical substance , but might have sound legit to someone with no technical background.  Watch out.

i received a call from someone called Shawn Communications saying that he was with Windows and that they were receiving multiple errors from my computer, and asked me to go to my computer so he could fix it. I was very suspicious and when questioned, he told me that they were authorized by the US Govt. and windows to fix my serious problem.I asked for a number to call back and was given 866-936-7466. When I googled it, i saw i was not alone, others have reported it.

I had a call from these guys.  Got to talk with a supervisor since I wasn't running windows.  They had my phone number and address, and claimed to have the MAC address of the computer.  I asked them a few times how they make money since they claimed not to be selling anything.   They said they were given my information from a warranty form.   Has Dell sold them my information?  They didn't say they were from Microsoft, but said they are on-line Microsoft tech support or similar, and that my computer had been shown to be infected with a virus.  I hung up.

I was a victim of this scam!  It cost me $100 to get my computer back in order after they remotely installed some sort of program on it.  Coincidentally, I sent a report to Microsoft regarding my computer issues yesterday, so is it a coincidence that they somehow got my home phone number and told me that it was Microsoft technical support depart and they understood that I had computer problem???  It seems like too much of a coincidence.  In the meantime, only after they took remote control of my computer through SHOWMYPC.COM, , I became very suspicious of them when they tried to tell me that my Windows program warranty had expired.  They even put that info on my screen (remotely, of course).  Well, I did not sign up for any programs with them and hung up.  I checked my computer stats only to see a program/virus was put on my computer by them.  I contacted Microsoft and for $100 they fixed my computer via their remote access.  It took over an hour to clean up my computer.  I have since then filed a complaint with the FTC and Microsoft.  I will also contact the state's atty. office to file another complaint.  What, has been done with this scam operator so far???? BTW...same thing protocol : East Indian man named Alex from Shaun Communications in Carson City, NV.

I have received the same info as above only spoke with a "Ray Smith" with East Indian accent. Very evasive when I started asking questions. Asked for a supervisor and one was not available. I hung up 3X and Ray coninued to call back. When asked where he was calling from - continued to say from Carson City, Nevada - Shawn Communications. Of course his technology service would clean my computer for free and then asked for a registration fee with a price of $149 for 1 yr; $172 for 2 yrs and $222 for 3 yrs. When asked to speak with someone understanding English, another foreigner got on the phone and he was just as bad with English. They were all very pushy and very evasive. I did not sign up for their programs since I could not speak with anyone at Shawn Communications. Ray also advised he was representing Microsoft and his company was the technolgy repair company for Microsoft. I will ntfy the State Attorney General Office for NC and also speak with Microsoft.

I too received the call, but unfortunately believed it and dove in hook line and sinker. I feel so invaded as they went all through my computer and nothing works the same now.  They charged my credit card 149.00. I have since changed my card number but have to get my computer repaired. It hit me a few hours later and when I checked on this I heard it was a scam. I keep kicking myself for believing them. :(

I received a call fron Cisctron aka Shaun Communications LLC. Was talking to Ray when I couldn't understand the first person. Like others have stated he got real pushy when I started challenging him and when I told him I didn't want someone I didn't know looking inside my computer.

He got really pushy when I said his name wasn't Ray. That's when I said this conversation is over and hung up.

It didn't pass the smell test from the beginning.

I too got a call from this scam. They gave a false email address and claimed they were a microsoft helpline and that I had many multiple error messages on my computer. I was very busy at the time and I am ashamed to say I went along for a bit. Luckily my bank called after delining the credit card charge. I just want to know where they are getting their info on people and their computers from...Hang up immediately if they call you!

This scammer called my elderly mother and claimed they were from Microsoft.  Changed administrator passwords and programs to where the computer was completely unusable--cost was over $100 to fix.  Reported them to Microsoft.
