I called HBCBS and they said they did not know this number and they did not need any information from me.

I also receive the same message on my answering machine from this number.  I called back, and a recording said my name and asked if it was correct.  They then asked me if I, or anyone else in my household, had any other insurance.  After that, the recording said it was doing an annual update or confirmation (something like that), which is probably not true b/c I've had HBCBS for years and they've never called before.  Lastly, they tried to sell me other services.  I said "no", and the recording thanked me and said goodbye.  I tried to call Horizon to see if they knew about this, but they're closed on weekends.  I'm sure this was a scam, but I didn't offer any personal info, so hopefully I'm fine.  I wouldn't trust this.  If I had taken them up on these services, I probably would have been in trouble.

This is the 2nd time this # has called my cell - its the same message as above.   Like SW said, I have been with the company for years & years and never got a call before....The call came on my phone as 978-712-7144 but was told to call back to 866-949-4933 - I called it back and it says that its Horizon BC but I didn't trust it so I hung up.

Same thing happened to me.  Exactly the same recorded message trying to get information using the voice activation.  The voice of the recording is weird and that's why I hung up after answering only one question.  Thanks, "My Name", for reporting this!

I got the same message and because of the above postings I decided to call the number on the back of my insurance card for customer service. When I spoke with someone from BCBS they told me that this was a real number just trying to verify that I didn't have any other insurance. I would suggest that if you are not comfortable calling back the 866 number, call the number on your card and talk to a person that you know is from BCBS.

I got the same message - it mentioned me by name and gave that same callback number. Calling that number only got me an error message - the call never went through. When I called the number on the back of my BCBS card, I was told it was probably just an attempt to update my COB (coordination of benefits) info. Basically, just an attempt to make sure they know about any other insurance I might be covered under.

No worries in returning this call. If you are suspect (verizon users {landline or cell} *67 to block your #). They are not asking for any personal information. Just need to update if you or anyone covered on your insurance policy is covered under additional health insurance. Again, no worries on this one!

I called the number on my insurance card. They said it is a service they are using to update information regarding any other insurance we may have. I told the representative that I will NEVER give information out like this. There are too many scams and identity thefts out there. I told her if they want to update my information they need to send me a letter but I will NEVER answer a call like that.

Bottom line, it was not a scam call, but I still found it spooky.

How did Rosie managed to talk to a living voice by dialing the number on the insurance card? I tried to call and was routes from *options* to *options* into a do-loop.
Does anybody know a Horizon BC/BS NJ e-mail address where one can bring such issues to their attention?
It is doubtful that Horizon BC/BS NJ would take the initiative to search google for issues like on this page at 800notes.com.
Yes, I received the same recorded message on my phone. At 7:46 PM on 09/14/2010. Wow, I thought, does BC/BS work past 5:00 PM to just survey people?
