    Not An Imbecile
Obviously this phone number belongs to a con artist/criminal.

There is no such airline as "United Airways".  DO NOT call this number.  It is a SCAM.

I did not receive a phone call from 866-949-5037.  I received a SCAM letter postmarked from Phoenix, AZ from someone claiming to be Cathy Ryan, Vice President of "United Airways" urging me to call this number because I had "qualified" to receive 2 free airline tickets.  United Airways does not exist.
My address was hand written on the envelope and had NO RETURN ADDRESS.

If you receive a similar letter, my advice to you would be:   Trash it.

My husband got one of these letters and, as an avid traveler, I was not familiar with this airline and thought I'd google it. Thanks guys for making my research easier.

I got a letter from "United Airways" dated 11/26/12.  It says that I have until Dec 5th to respond as I qualified for an award of 2 roundtrip airline tickets and to call Cathy Ryan at 866-949-5037.  It's not totally bogus looking, but being that I investigate fraud for a living, I could tell it was fake.   I checked here to make sure.

I received this fraudulent request yesterday. I googled United Airways as I knew it sounded fake. Thanks for posting and making it easier. Besides the trash, is it possible to report such mail to anyone? We report scams to our IT dept, can it apply to mail as well, like reporting it to USPS?

By the way the phone number to call was different but everything else was  the same postmarked from Phoenix AZ 852 "Note you must respond no later than December 12th, 2012. Retail value of this award is up to $1,298.00. Call Cathy Ryan at 1-866-949-1804" Plus it was a good learning experience for my son as he watched me investigate online.

I got the letter today. Apprently they have a new VP named Ali Rey. LOL.... Sure. The number to call back is different too, they ask you to call 866-981-5791 to claim 2 round trip tix valued at $1,350.00. no address, nothing. Scam? More than likely.
