Got an actual letter with handwritten address (postmarked Arizona) with letter head of American (not airlines -- just America) saying that I have qualified to win 2 round trip airline tickets. Call today to get my ticket vouchers before they give them away.

It was even signed Sue Long -- by hand.

    What a great scam

Me too!  EXACT same letter today.  Weird.  No return address on outside of envelope either.  If it was legit, you'd think they would give you a physical address.  But . . . no.

I received one this week in Kansas.  The lack of a return address on the envelope and lightweight paper without color ink gave it away.  A low budget scam!

Received this letter as well last week. I was traveling so it arrived either 4/11 or 4/12. Strange as heck, full first class postage, no return address, no legal company name just the "American" at the top. The post mark is from Phoenix, AZ dated 4/9/13. Letter is hand signed by Sue Long, real signature as can feel the impression from the pen on the back.

I live in Kansas like another person above. I put my name in a drawing at the Kansas State Fair, was to win a pickup truck. That got me on a calling list every month or so to buy a packaged vacation (turned them down). Thinking this might be part of that deal as well. This ring a bell with anybody?

Learned a LONG time ago not to fill out any entry forms at any games or fairs or concerts, etc.  Hate having all that information sold to someone who will only use it to try to sell me something or bother me with crap.  Has anyone ever won anything they filled out an entry form for?

Someone going to a lot of trouble for what?  Handwritten address on envelope, signed letter (Sue Long, Vice President of American?), first class postage - addressed to my husband with his name spelled correctly (often mispelled).  We are so very cautious with regard to ID theft, etc., that we don't take chances signing up for prize drawings.  Don't you wish these people would work this hard in an honest, above-board manner?

Yeah...mine was addressed to our real estate agent (but with her maiden name?) who just sold us our house? So they must be getting a list from public real estate transactions.
