- Anti-scammer| 1 replyOn 5/24/2013, I received a call from a man claiming to be from Publishers Cleaning House, "Prize Award Notification Agent" by the name of David Washington. He claimed I had won 2nd prize in the May 15, 2013 drawing and my prize was 110,000USD . He said I needed to obtain a Green Dot Money Pak Scratch Card in the specific amount of $299.00, to use for IRS prize winning report documents. He claimed a prize team, Mary Brown and Frank Wilkey were in my area and would present me with a cashier check for deposit with my local bank. But, I would need the Green Dot Money Pak Scratch Card and the 14 digits on the reverse of the card to claim my prize. In preparation of IRS documents, I was told to David Washington with the 14 digits from the Card. He asked how long would it take me to go locally and purchase the Card in the amount of $299.00; and provide the 14 digits to him. Several call made by him to check on my progress. I did purchase a Green Dot Reloadable Debit Card. I advised David Washington, he said I had obtained the wrong card. But, when I found the right card it had a Warning, I should not give my 14 digits to anyone not listed authorized from www.green.dot. When, I received the next call from David Washington - I advise him I needed some proof he was who he said he was. I provided my email address and shortly received an email that according to David Washington was from Publishers Clearing House (PCH), and a copy of my cashier's check with my name and amount of 110,000 plus my Card cost or in all a total of 2 check..Prize and Combined Cost of $299 + $4.95 =$303.95. ~~ The email I received was from jgreen20111@yahoo.com with an attachment (Check and Letter of Prize Notification). I refused to "open" the email attachment based on who sent it return address. In summary, I did not fall for his "scam" and when contacted several more times encouraging me to yield the 14 digits. (I did report this event to PCH, and Greendot.com; and email abuse to yahoo.com). Curiously, I was called the next day by David Washington who asked if I was ready to give him my 14 digits. And, I replied only when I receive a Certified Mail from PCH notifying me of my prize. He said Okay and he would comply with my request.
