LAdy called from an unnown number and left this numbr to call back.  She said it was FAS Legal Department.  Said she had papers to deliver to me.

These people refused to say who they so [***] them

We got same message, WTH?? Is it from a debt collector or not? Has anyone followed through with
contacting them?

Almost positive it is a scam!!  They are trying to scare you that they may be "serving you court papers" making it sound as though they are taking you to court.  I have been reading about this.  You can call your local courthouse and ask if any claims/suits have been filed against you.  If they so no...you KNOW it is a scam!!  Your best bet is to NOT CALL THEM BACK AT ALL!!  Just call your courthouse so that you can have peace of mind. I'd bet my life, there is nothing filed against you!!

It's definitely a scam. Any time someone says you have been officially served over the phone- it's bogus! Don't even bother calling these people back. They all say the same thing when they call. Sometimes they call from different numbers. If you get a call with the similiar message in months to come by a different number, just ignore it! I hate people like this- I flat out tell them, "stop playing on my phone and go get a "real JOB"!!!!

I had a call from this number from a lady named "Crystal Wells",threatening to bring me sealed documents to my job or my home.When asking her what this was in regards to ,she stated a complaint,but had no further information she could give me.Really?Talking to her was like talking to a brick wall.I took the number & file Number she had for me.So, I called and spoke to a lady named "Angie Stone",come to find out it's all over a payday loan from several years ago.I have paid this debt through another company,when trying to explain this to "Angie"she places me on hold and then a "Lisa Foster" gets on the phone.This woman has one of the nastiest attitudes,do you really think I'm gonna give you any information when you are raising your voice and talking to me like a piece of [***]?Bring me the "sealed documents",i'll be holding my breath on those.Your company is a scam!"Crystal,when/if you do bring these so called documents,bring "Angie & Lisa" too

These people had the audacity to call my sister. I have no idea who the heck they are, but I sure won't be calling!

I have received about 3 different calls at three different times. I truely beleive this is just a scam.

this number is a scam i filed a complaint with my local authorites. they told me this was from an old payday loan also. i had paid this loan and told them i still had my receipt. they will not admit it when you call them out on being a scam so i just told them they were the ones committing criminal activity and i would be filing complaints on them.

Third time they have called telling me they are trying to reach my husband.  Have threatened me that they would see me in a few hours to a couple of days.  This time I am reporting them to the attorney general.  It has come to the point where feel they are harassing me.  My husband is VERY ill.  I do not need this kind of stress.

I received a voice message from a laura matthews indicating that i had officially been notified regarding a consumer or a person filing a complaint against me.  she left a case number beginning with the letter f on the message.  i called the number and got another lady who sounded just like laura matthews who advised me it was in regards to a paydayone.com loan take out on june 13th of this year then she said june of 2008 and told me my employers name etc,..  i let her know i had no idea what she was talking about and then asked her if paydayone.com is even licensed to issue payday loans in the state of pennyslvania.  she told me they are which is an absolute LIE..payday loans are prohibited in the state of pennsylvania,  i believe these people are only contacting individuals now in an attempt to get money from them since they have made mobile numbers public and available for solicitors etc...i told them let's go to court and hung up!

I RECEIVED A CALL ON MY JOB FROM KATHY WELLS WANTING TO SERVE PAPERS ON MY JOB OR RESIDENCE SAYING THAT A COMPLAINT HAD BEEN MADE AGAINST ME.  WOULD NOT GIVE ME DETAILS OR ANYTHING.  I CALLED THIS 877-204-5883 RECEPTIONIST STATED THEY WERE IN A MEETING.  I ASKED WHAT IS THIS ABOUT...SHE STATED SHE COULD NOT SPECIFY WHAT WAS ABOUT BUT SOMEONE HAD MADE A COMPLAINT.  TOTALLY RIDICULOUS THAT PEOPLE ARE HARASSED BY THESE COMPANIES WITH TACTICS LIKE THIS.

Yes I just received a call from a Karen Jones she is the processor at least that what she calls her self.  Gave me a number to call in which I called it and spoke with a lady name Lisa who threatened me stating that my salary check will garnished if I don;t pay and that I would be responsible for the court and legal fees.  I asked her have they started the legal papers to garnish my check and she said no.  At that point I hung up the phone.  I don;t take too kindly to threats!!!!!

They are actually debt collectors and according to the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, they are not allowed to say this has to do with a court case/lawsuit.  The fact they say it has to do with a complaint and trying to serve you papers is to make people think there is a lawsuit in court filed against you.  That is in clear violation of the FDCPA.

15 USC 1692e § 807. False or misleading representations:
A debt collector may not use any false, deceptive, or misleading representation or means in connection with the collection of any debt. Without limiting the general application of the foregoing, the following conduct is a violation of this section:

(4) The representation or implication that nonpayment of any debt will result in the arrest or imprisonment of any person or the seizure, garnishment, attachment, or sale of any property or wages of any person unless such action is lawful and the debt collector or creditor intends to take such action.
(10) The use of any false representation or deceptive means to collect or attempt to collect any debt or to obtain information concerning a consumer.
(13) The false representation or implication that documents are legal process.

Anyway, look up the FDCPA and it can help to deal with these types of debt collectors

Same situation as the above mentioned.  My caller's name was Amy Wise(or oculd have been Wells).  I think they just change their first and last names along with the phone #'s.  I never call back, however it does get annoying. they are debt collectors that have  probably bought "cases" from other Debt collectors and are now trying to collect on debts the other companies couldn't.

They are Deb Collectors (have an old debt I'm in dispute with).  I called back, let them get me on recording and them I chewed them out while I knew they were recording - they left me a message utilizing my nieces name and said that it was "urgent" I called, I thought something happened to my niece.  I am furious, I will be reporting them to the Attorney General's Office.

They call my employment asking for my social security!!!!! Left a Reference# to call back. I did and it goes into a voicemail sounding so business like. BEWARE OF THESE SCAMS!!
