Working issues out direct with the company is in your best interest.  Co's get a great deal of information when you accept free trials or take advantage of purchasing online.  If you attempt to claim fraud or that a transaction was not authorized yiu could and possibly will be charged with purjery which is a felony.  Forgetting about a transaction or not reading the fine print is no defense when the company has undeniable evidence as to the authorization and validity of a transaction.  ALWAYS WORK THINGS OUT WITH THE COMPANY BECAUSE A FALSE CLAIM OF FRAYD CAN BRING YOU MORE TROUBLE THAN A TRANSACTION YOU FORGOT ABOUT AUTHORIZING ON YOUR BANK ACCOUNT.

You must work for the company - people are stating that they never authorized withdrawals.  Claims of fraud will only get this company into trouble - not the people who had their money illegally withdrawn.  If the company wasn't a scam, then they would gladly refund any money.  You just want to try to scare people away from standing up for their rights.  Even it someone "forgot" they did authorize charges, trying to say that they will be prosecuted for fraud is a stretch - the company merely has to show proof of a contract - which a voice recording is not!

This is a billing company for several merchants and they require their customers to send a verification/authorization transaction on any item.  I had to call them and was able to find out all sorts of information about the transaction they even gave me enough detail that I figured out it was my husband who had accepted some sort of free trial offer a month or so ago.  Have you called them they were very helpful for us and got things taken care of right away I really did not get the feeling they were any kind of scam at all.

I think what this person is saying is even the FTC suggests you contact the merchant and that any claim of fraud that is later to be proven an authorized item is a crime.  It is always best to work things out direct with the merchant as I found out my husband had actually authorized a transaction two months earlier.  When you conduct business online you are agreeing to the terms and conditions of the item ... not sure where you get off referencing a contract...

Get your Facts Straight replies to Elspeth
    | 2 replies
If you are going to get on here and profess the law you should probably get your facts straight.  The only thing the merchant has to show proof of is the authorization of the transaction.  If the transaction was on the itnernet check out screens, password data and log on credentials are sufficient.  The FTC governs consent regulation for telemarketers and all the consent for payment has to contain is the when the item will be taken, how much will be taken and for what the person is paying for.  This has to be recorded according to the FTC.  If you are doing a transaction online and accepting free trial offers those co's usually have your ip address pinged right to the location of your computer and in some cases have your photo associated with your profile.  If you do not know how they received your information getting all of the details from the merchant will help you to pin point what may have happened and who may be using your credentials.  Most merchants are very cooperative in providing all of this information and assisting all you have to do is call and ask.

I found some suspicious activity on my bank account. 1 penny out and 1 penny in so of course I called the bank because this is how fraudulent people take our hard earned money is by seeing what they can get away with. And when I called the phone number the bank gave me I got what everyone else got which was a voice mail message from PPA saying I could leave a message. Which I did not because it seems they already have to much of my private information. Through a little bit of research I found out this phone number belongs to a company called (PPA) Payment Processing Alliance. There web address is www.paymentprocessingalliance.com. Their phone number is 1-800-380-7889. I called this phone number and received a message saying that they are not open and that you could leave a message in their general mailbox. I find it odd that I had to do research through a back door  to find this company. Why are they calling from a phone number that has been flagged as a "Telemarketing" phone number that has at least 400 complaints against' it but then I find this huge web-site that looks all professional. Which we all know can be done for a little money. If they are as reputable as their web site claims they are then why have a totally different phone number that you cannot talk to anyone at that only answers with the initials PPA. If you are not a fraudulent company then why hide who you are? I have sent them an email. Lets see if they answer it. Anyone that tells you anything different is working for this company and is a LIAR!!!! I did the research and I can back up what I am saying. All this other crap that these 2 people one calling himself/herself "notice" and this other person calling himself/herself "Mary Jones". These 2 people actually work for this company or they would not have gotten on here and lied straight out. if you don't believe me just fact check what I have said and you will find out I know what I am talking about.

You are not a real person if you are you should have trouble sleeping at night for trying to deceive innocent people. if there is a God I hope someday people like you feel is wrath all the way to HELL!!! I found out reliable information and it wasn't from calling the phone number you falsely say that you called. That phone number does not have a live person man it at anytime. You could have posted a true reply instead of all the lies you posted. My post tells you exactly who these people really are, their web-site, and their REAL phone number. Just makes me wonder why you are trying so hard to convince people with YOUR LIES that this company is reputable....Why didn't you just post the TRUTH!!! I guess that's because you are too scared too,.

Hey. Some of you guys might want to start using a spell check before posting. I'm not flaming anyone, but misspelled words  kind of detract from an otherwise intelligent post. Again, I'm not trying to be a jerk, but I'm sure I will get some nasty responses.

It's some type of payment processing center. After several tries, I finally got someone to answer. The lady said it was from a company I-Voice. 800-498-4490. She said they give offers for internet service. They send you an email which most of the time goes into your spam folder. Then they charge your bank $0.01 to activate the account. I called and told them to cancel the service because I never ordered internet - I already have an internet provider. The man assured me the service would be cancelled and I would not be charged. I'll keep checking my account to make sure.

happened to me too replies to unknown
I would close your account and get as much security as possible on the new one. My husband was mislead about a year ago by a phone solicitor named "FRB Membership". The company SNJ Billing was always listed on a "Check" that was prepared by "SNJ Billing"  to withdraw funds from our account in the amount of $49.95 monthly.  A year ago I noticed and called the company and specified we were not interested in their product and they agreed to discontinue membership???? to what is anyone's guess.  Guess what, that monthly charge has reappeared about 6 months later.  We also had a 1 cent charge which I had no idea was a phishing scam.  I will be notifying our bank so hopefully they can monitor for the safety of all hard working people who earn they money honestly. I also have tried calling and ONLY getting voice machines when calling SNJ Billing.  Never heard of a banking business who didn't answer their phone during business hours.  I am currently trying to find a way to press charges, I feel criminals need to go to jail.  If someone had stolen my walle,t I would press charges, there is no difference.

I, too, noticed a charge to my bank account in the amount of $0.01 and then another charge for the same amount ($0.01) over the course of two dates.  I called 1-877-207-6643 and was told they are Payment Processing Alliance (PPA) http://www.paymentprocessingalliance.com/.  A rep told me to call the vendor (Voice Over Internet Protocol) at 1-877-891-2529.  I called and spoke to Angel Carl who "confirmed" that I ordered the service and would be charged a $40.00 monthly fee.  I NEVER ordered their service.  I cancelled with him and he "assured" me that my "request" would be cancelled and all my information would be erased. The rep appeared too complainant and too quick to honor my request.  He did not sound legit to me whatsoever.  Meanwhile, I incurred a stop-payment fee through my bank to ensure that the vendor would be blocked from future withdrawals.

Just happened to us also.  Called the bank this morning and I actually got through to a person who said the service was ordered on August 7.  That is just pure bull.   We do very little online.  I told him my brother/attorney was with me and that I was recording the call.  Funny; his attitude sure changed all of a sudden!!  So you people trying to act like this is on the up and up...forget it.  Got a confirmation number on the cancellation and his name also.  In Ohio it is legal to record phone calls.  If they were so legit; they would not be pulling this crap on the lowdown...they would be upfront about it.

First of all, a claim of fraud is in no way illegal.  It simply starts an investigation.  Period.  What do you think happens in courtroom across the nation every day?

Second, the proper way to handle this is to contact your bank immediately and tell them you did not authorize the charges.  They will ask you questions and begin an investigation.  My bank instantly credited me the $40 that was withdrawn due to the number of previous complaints that were settled in favor of the customer, not the company that accessed their account.  If they reverse the charge before the investigation is completed the bank will always warn you that if the investigation comes out in favor of the merchant they will reverse the credit.

Third, if your bank doesn't recommend it, open a new account.

You don't have to try and work it out with the merchant.  Go to your bank and let them handle it - they are experts. I'd be interested to see the FTC recommendations you are referencing.

Second, making a fraud claim that is later proven false is not a crime.  It simply means you are responsible for the charges.

Third agreeing to the terms and conditions forms a contract.  But it has to be proven beyond a doubt that you agreed, which can actually be very difficult.
