They asked me for my social security to look into my account details. I said sorry

Started receiving phone calls from this company. They do not identify themselves, or the reason for the call;  only stating that they have an important issue to discuss.  Wanting address verification, not likely going to happen in my lifetime.

They just call again just now.  I was able to get a company name from her, which I lost already. An attempt to collect a debt that was written off by the credit card company several years ago.  They offered to settle for less that 10% of the original debt.  As I understand it, once a debt has been written off the debt collector keeps everything they recover.
I may be wrong about that.

I just got a call from this same number. They wanted to verify my information and it was a debt from a company I paid off YEARS ago, I have not received a single bill or anything from this company at all. And all of a sudden they call me out of a blue saying I owe 3x more then what the original line of credit was for. I found it ridiculous so I asked to speak with the company itself, and all she gave me was a mailing address saying I have to copy my drivers license and write them a letter explaining why I don't owe them anything. O_o   Kinda got me irritated and concerned on if someone stole my card info, but even then if they had all my information, why haven't they (the company itself) mailed me any information about this supposed "debt"?
