I had this guy, Mike Smith, real original, call and say he's a lawyere with legal matters.....first of all....calling from a 877 number isn't legit...and 2nd of all....wouldn't I receive a certified letter of any sort of legal actions against me???  Just another scam I believe!!!

"Marino" called from the firm of "Shapiro & Price", leaving a message about a case of "Fraud".  Didn't even get my name right.  Must be a scam.

Ya I got the same thing too about fraud.. But they called my ex's phone and we haven't been together for years. She doesn't even have my last name.. will call in the morning to see whats up

I got the same message from a Michael Smith who was calling my mother saying that there was a court case. I too have not had any certified mail to this effect and knew for a fact that I didn't have anything that would be in litigation at this time. The phone number was 1-877-228-1217.

I recieved a call from a Mr Smith. He notified me of a delinqent account that i forgot about from a 2 or threes years ago. At first i was apprehensive about the situation but after i looked into it further it was a great thing that they called me when they did. If i had not had this oppurtunity to discuss this before it reached a legal status i would of been hurt pretty bad in the pocket book for years to come

this yo yo named sam from this phone number and claiming to be an attorneys office, tells me i'm being sued for 1000.00 from a debt i know nothing about, lol, so i told him i need proof of this debt in writing so he sends a copy to my email asking for 1000.00 and fees, at the bottom of the letter its says do not send payment to the address at the top of this letter head- send payment to a post office box,   now i ask you, what attorneys office dont have a mailing address, its a scam a collection agency posing as an attorneys office, will these clowns ever get put out of bussiness, hope so,preying on people like blood suckers

I got a message from a guy named Matthew not sure of last name telling me to cll back 877-228-1217 or have my attorney call regarding the allegations against me from franklin county district court have no idea who this is or what about will have my attorney to cll them. will upd later

I got the same call..imagine that! I did owe the money to the company that they said, but i called the company and paid them instead. NOW the Lawyers Rferral team have come up with another account that i owe on..doesn't exsist. I almost paid these scammers $337.00. Thank God i didn't. And then they had the nerve to say that i got scammed by the REAL company.

lol, they called me too, yesterday threatning me saying theres a fraud case against me and they want to tape me saying i owe 1100.00 and 2000.00 in late fees and penaltys, and give them my banking info so they can debt my account a s a p, i told mr marino i want a letter threw the mail telling me of all these charges againt me, lol, he said they cant do it, but he will send me an email,,, lol,, they claimto be attorneys, but no where on  this email its says attorney price and shaperio,and at the bottom of the emailits reads ,, donot send yourpayment to the address at the top of this email,, send payment to a POST OFFICE   BOX,,,,,,,, NOW WHAT ATTORNEY DONT HAVE A ADRESS,, ITS A SCAM 1-877-228-1217

realy??????  how do you know they are scam artists, they sound real, they keepcalling me,threatning me,but i just keep hanging up. please reply

anyone know who these people are  SHAPERIO AND PRICE 877-228-1217 they keep calling me and i do not know what they are talking about, fraud case and a loan, i owe 1000.00 and late fees and they want my bank account info sothey can quickly resove this debt

From Canada, so not up on your laws but, I would look into statute of limitations in your state.
And once it goes to collection , you have a negative on your credit rating so can't be fixed.
Finally, if it is a lawyer..which they are not, maybe a debt collector, you have the right to have them prove you owe anything , so demand they send you by mail copies of the proof provided by the actual company you possibly owe money too.
Always say you don't remember and want to see proof, emails are not adequate, and ask them to sue you, check to see if papers are not fraudulent by calling the courthouse, if they are in fact legit, pay the courts directly...unless of course you WANT to be scammed.

me too, they call about 6 times aday, leaving messages, i'm being charged with fraud and i owe 1600.00 and late fees and befour it gos to court they want to settle this matter, give them my debit info so they can take 500.00 a month till paid in full,,,,,,,,,,, the guys name is SAM MARINO@ 877-228-1217@ SHAPERIO AND PRICE, i googled them and cant find them, comes up on caller id lawyer referal service, anyone have any info on these idiots, thanks

My husband received one of these calls.  Twice now this has happened.  The first time was from some Officer James Brown, once we proved that a scam, he yelled and hollered saying he was legit and he'd be on our doorstep tomorrow to arrest my husband for a bill the didn't exist.  Imagine our surprise when no one showed up.  Then about two weeks later we get a call from Shapiro and Price saying we owe them a slightly lesser amount.  We did have a loan through the company they say we owe, but it was paid off in 2007.  I even pulled up his credit report, nothing was there.  My question is with all the scammers and fraudulent activity going on, how do you tell a real debt collector from the rest?
