Got an email from "Expedia" with this phone number. The responder on the other side responded like Expedia rep, but said is not aware of any email. Hope the call wasn't a paid one.

Many emails are made by scammers out to steal information and some put a phone number they hope you will call back, such as a toll free one. They use the toll free number because it will display the true number of anyone calling it and then they have a number they can call to try a scam on.
Telemarketers also use this trick with the email/phone number.

Its always best to contact the Official number of the company that supposedly sent the email or called to verify if it was actually them and not some scammer. Or simply delete the email and place the number on your block list.
