A "Process Server" called to have me call this number to "stop them from serving me".  Of course they can't verify the debt.

I believe it's ACS, but the "Process Server" told me it was Allstate Check Recovery.  I guess we'll see.

Authorization to use my number as a reference was not issued by me. In fact, I do not know her location.

I received a call today from this same company telling me that I had a debt with a payday loan company and passed a bad check.  I spoke to an Ivan, but someone with the last name of Green left me the voicemail.  They wanted me to give them $955 and I refused.  They said they would be sending someone out to serve me with papers.

Both of my ex-wives (one ex for 18 years, the other for 8 years) informed me they were called by a Linda Black yesterday, telling them that I was being sued for a debt. I called 877-247-7670 following my conversation with each of them, and when it was answered it said it was "Allstate Check Recovery". I left them messages explaining that I was not at all happy about them calling my ex-spouses and telling them ANYTHING about my business, and if they persisted in calling my exes it would be ME suing THEM. I have not had any bounced checks, so I have no idea what in the world they are calling about as yet. They told one of my ex-wives that they had made "numerous" unsuccessful attempts to reach me; in my messages I explained that I do not answer calls on my cell phone which are shown as PRIVATE with no clue as to the source number and if that is what they've been doing, that is why they haven't reached me. If they have, they've never bothered to leave a message either.

They do have a website (www.allstatecheckrecovery.com) but it is currently "under construction" until June 6. Strongly suspect that "Linda Black" is just a generic phone name they all use.

I received a call today from a Kim Logan with "Allstate Check Recovery Legal Dept."; she said she was a process server and the caller ID showed up as "Private Number." She said she had until 6:00 today to serve papers on me for Check Fraud and that I needed to call 877-231-5545 and provided me with a case number. She has an American accent. So I called the number and a Mr. Perry answered the phone. He said that I had received a payday loan in April 2008 from Cash Advance Network for $400 and when C.A.N. went to take the $$ out of my checking account, there were no funds and that constituted check fraud. They were going to prosecute me in criminal court for check fraud if I didn't pay them $855, which later in the conversation was stated as $845, but as a "good faith" effort, they would accept a settlement of $400. All I needed to do was pay them $50 via credit card.

I called the North Carolina Attorney General's office and they told me to NOT pay these people anything, that they are very unscrupulous debt collectors and to please file a complaint with them. The NC AG's office said that even if these people did file a lawsuit, all I had to do was show up in court and the judge would throw it out because payday loans are illegal in North  Carolina and have been for many years.

    Not important
Just received a call from them (Allstate Check Recovery), and I requested their physical address and company ID#. The rep immediately transferred me to a manager. I spent 15 minutes on the phone with the manager who insisted that they could not provide an address due to recent threats, nor could they provide a company ID#.

Listen up... I work for a law firm, so I recognize fraud on a daily basis. DO NOT pay these people a dime. If a company does not A. - Provide an address, B. - Provide their business ID, C. - Say they do not send or receive mail, D. - Tell you that someone is coming to serve you... they are fraudulent. Please do your due dilligence before paying anyone who calls you and threatens you with a summons. That is not how the process works.

    Thanks!

I received a message from a James Thompson stating he was a process server and that a complaint had been filed against me in his office for check fraud.  He said that since he had not yet served papers I could call 877-231-5545 and resolve the matter out of court.  If I did not call I was only showing that I had no regard for settling my obligations and he would serve the papers.

I received a similar call 2 weeks ago and the number I called back was ACS.  This number was Allstate Check Recovery.  When I called I did not put in an extension number and no one answered so I hung up.  From reading the above message I'm guessing it's a payday loan scam.  I had several 3 years ago but none from Cash Advance Network.  Anyway, 3 years is a little long to wait to try and collect an unpaid debt.

So I asked if they could email me a document verifying tis debt, the csr told me she had to ask her supervisor and she doubt it, so I told her I doubt if I'd pay it! I dont know about this company, it seems like a crock to me!!

I received a call from a Joy Winters. She said she was a process server working for her "client" and that she was going to serve papers for a bad check.  She would not tell me who her client was.  She gave me a number 877-239-2730 and a case number.  When I called the number I found it was Allstate Check Recovery and that I needed an extension number..........so I pressed #1 to speak to a live agent and no one answered the phone. I found out later in the afternoon that the same person  had called various family members and friends and left the messages with all of them stating I was going to be served and picked up by local authorities for writing bad checks...and they had conveniently left the 877 number and case number so it could all be cleared up.  So I waited and called after 5pm.  I spoke to a lady named Jane and referenced the company as ACR.  I asked did she know it was illegal to give another 3rd party all the info that her associate provided to my friends and family.  (ONLY name, poe, and possible phone number is only to be requested).  She asked was I a lawyer.  I asked her for "ACR" mailing address or corporate office and she said asked again was I a lawyer.  I told her no, and she said she could not give me that info and hung up.  They have a website www.allstatecheckrecovery.com but their website will not be up and running until June 6th.

Sounds like yet another bottom feeder has joined the ranks of fraudulent debt collectors.

One other thing that I forgot to state above, I have not written a check since 2006 and stated that to Joy Winters and she blew right by that and continued on with her monologue.  With the world as it is, I pay all bills online thru my bank.

    Concerned kathy
I got a call from a proces server at my job and he said I had until the day was out to call the number above that I was going to be charged with fraudalent checks writing. I called the number and told them that I did not know what they were talking about and they said it was from 2008 and they said they were all state check recovery. I could settle with them for 985.oo or if I paid them today that I could settle for 550 . I hung up the phone and said I would get back to them. I started researching this company and I found several forums that all indicate that this is a scam. I plan on not dealing with these people at all.

I also received a call from a "Process Server"  after he had caled my 80 yr old mother and scared  her to death thinking I was going to jail, I looked them up on line and found that the websilte was under construction, so I called BBB and this is a SCAM, they were ALL Check Cashing Companies were shut down by the state of NC, for illegal practice.  And I was told not to pay it, and if there would be such a "summons" served it would be thrown out anyway because they are illegal in the state of NC.

The same thing is happening to me. These people are calling my parents, people related to me in different states, friends and saying I owe these people $945.00 and they would settle for $350. The same thing happend to me a month ago. My mom helped me out and actually paid these Scammers 350 dollars.. this is the second time in a month now.. All these other post Describes my situation to the TEE.. I didnt want to get in trouble or go to court for Check Fraud, so thats why I paid it the first time.. I have gotten a 300 loan before back in 2008 and the place LendingTree.com took their 390 dollars for it out of my account.. anyways.. I ve been researching these people online and have found nothing Legit about them.. I just called the better business bureau and they werent listed.. The number they called me on wasnt listed either.. The lady told me not to pay them and if SOMEHOW it were legit. Let them send me papers.. She told me she gets calls alot about them saying a Cop will be at ur door in an hour to serve you.. but thats not true.. Dont fall for what I fell for. My poor mom is out of almost 400 dollars..

    Fed Up
I also received calls similiar to the ones above.  I never pick up a number I do not recognize and they left messages at both my work and cell phone.  They said an order has come to their desk regarding bad checks that I have written and I may call the plaintiff to resolve the issue.  The name of the company that was given to me was Santa Fe Managment.  Also, no listing with the BBB.  It sees like a lot of these scam companies have cropped up recently. I would just suggest ignoring their messages and report any of the numbers to the Federal Trade Commission.  Under the Fair Debt Collecton Act, a debt collector must provide you with proof of the debt, which none of these companies can do.  At first their were a bunch of calls like these coming from people with foreign accents and it looks like American people have moved in on this scam.  I would suggest they find a more rewarding job!

    Anxiety Line 1
I've been getting calls from this number but most recently its appearing as Restricted.  They have called my family and friends leaving threating messages.  Most recently I had a voicemail saying I was going to be served papers either at home or work, and that they have tried to set up meetings with me and that this will be their last attempt to contact me.  I don't know who this is.    This just seems crazy, I mean they won't even give me information about what I supposedly did.  Somebody needs to do something.  This is making me sick I'm full of anxiety I can't sleep and I can't focus at work or school.

I have also received calls from this company. With the same dialog as above....and since checking in on this I have called them back and told them that I would like their company address and Company Id # and they said that they didn't give that info out.  And then I told them that I was aware of their scam and it was all over the internet, they told me that they don't make outgoing calls and for me not to call them again.  Unless my attorney was to call them.  So I do work for a Telephone Company and I am working hard on pin pointing on where these calls are coming from so that this will be stopped!!!  I will keep you posted!!
