- AddieI have received two phone calls from this number over the past two months. They identified themselves as department of transportation representitives conducting a survey. I asked where they got my name and they said it was a random selection. The girl who called identified herself as LaShanda, and I think she is the same one who called the first time for a similar query. They asked personal questions about this household, then said they wanted me to keep a record of how much time I spend in my car. I asked where they were located and she hung up.

- bad sonA lady called and asked for "the adult in the house over 18".
Though my Mom was here, I intelligently said, nope no one over 18 here no.
As the telemarketer blabbed blabbed on about " transportation blah blah something, while I had Warcraft game going, I accidentally said my Moms name. And the operator hung up.
I had to tell my Mom and she is pissed off at me, and she called the caller ID number, and it did sound legit, but now I cant play online f o r 3 d a y s.- Caller: Transportation Surevey

- buglerI received a phone call from 877-261-4621 several times. If they can not leave a message it definitely is not important and not worth my time.

- kbkThis is the number for PVT NuStats (http://www.ptvnustats.com/)
They are currently conducting a transportation survey for the State of California. - lubsterI am participating in the California Air Resources Board Travel Survey. They called while I was at a dr. visit so I did not pickup the phone and they did not leave a message. I never like to call back an unknown number until I have checked with 800notes.com. I read "kbk"'s message and realized it was not some sort of prank call or scam. I wanted to leave this message on here so that nobody reports this phone # to the FTC. I always report other unwanted phone #'s to the FTC, but this one is legit and is a government #.

- RockoI took the call and agreed to do the survey. The girl started asking basic questions like what kind of vehicles we drove and some others that might help in a survey about travel in the state of California. Then she started asking questions like if anyone in our household was Hispanic, where my wife worked, not the city but the actual name of the company and it's address. They wanted to know what race my wife and I were. Basicly things that had nothing to do with transportation and air quality control. She was going places that had nothing to do with what she said the survey was about. I was on the line with her for at least 20 minutes. I finally told her I was hanging up and I did. If this is a legit survey then whoever designed it, if employed by the state of California should be fired. In times like this where identity theft is rampent.they were asking for way too much information. My advice is if you see this number pop up on your caller ID, don't answer it.
- MomoI received a call from 877-261-4621, and the guy asked me a lots of personal information before I'm aware this may be a fraud and stopped giving out anymore information. I'm starting to afraid now they may use my personal information to do something. What shall I do?
- C| 2 repliesThis is a survey business. I know because I have worked there before, making those calls. The company is hired by travel agencies in your area to conduct the surveys on their behalf. So if you don't like the surveys, don't complain to this company, it will do no good. Take it up with your local office that hired them (which the agent usually mentions in their script). As for the personal questions, they are demographics, used to study relations between them and transportation, as well as to ensure people from all types of backgrounds are represented.
Reason why they do not always leave messages is because there are certain rules for different areas. For example, in Canada, we are not allowed to leave messages. In most of the USA, we can, but only after a certain amount of calls.
So there are your answers. If you want to take a survey, you can do it online instead of over the phone. It will save you pressure of giving that info over the phone. They usually offer money for it anyway. If you never want them to call you, just tell them to take your number off of their list. Problem solved.- Caller: PTV NuStats

call them give all your contacts their number; and junk call them
Call, fax and leave endless messages make them realize what an inconvenience it is to receive unwanted calls
The only way to end all marketing calls is by making them inefficient.
don't buy anything from them keep them on the line for as long as you can when they call you.
Ask questions about their company, where are they located GET their telephone number and then publish it and ask all your social media contacts to call them and leave messages on their answering systems

- marisaI just actually called the number back, trying to get these butt heads to stop calling me. Someone actually answered the phone, shock I know. Spoke with Michael, seemed polite enough, told him they had been calling me from this number constantly and to please remove my number. Confirmed the number I was calling from and then told me it would be added to their do not call lists. Thanks and hung up. Simple as that. Figured once you tell them physically not to call or request it through an automated system at least once, and they keep calling it's harassment and can be reported to the FTC and FCC and the do not call registry site. I have been keeping a log of all unsolicited calls, even those with an unknown name/number, and then I know how many times the same number calls. Mark each one I've requested a DNC list addition, and they call back more than 24 hours from that point I report them.

- GK replies to CThe thing is it may be harmless, but you don't know anything about the person who's calling and asking the questions. Just like you don't know anything about the waiter who takes your credit card you give him/her to pay your bill. If they are dishonest, they can use the information to steal your ID. Best not to answer.
- eviesdadActually, I think this is a legit survey...

- ThomasToday was the day I had expected a call from this company to give them the info they asked for; which was my family's travel info. Sure enough they did call and spoke to a man named Adam who had a great deal of patience. So I gave him all trip we made for that day. After going this far, I think i can speak for everyone skeptical about participating, that the company expertise IS in travel survey and is contracted with CalTrans to carry out the actually survey. These guys are simply doing their job and at the end of the day it's all for the benifet of my community. On top of it all, the included incentive allowed my to fill up both me and my wife's car.
So don't be a jerk and understand it's all done for your own transportation.- Caller: California Household Travel Survey

- Thomas replies to feed upYou are a very ignorant and ruthless person. This company is doing it job of better understanding your community's transportation to understand where and what kind of improvements need to happen. Oh, and lazy. It only took me 14mins to complete, that's most probably the time it took you to Google their contact info and to write a message to conplain. People like you make me sick.
