- ITCalled from an unknown number, identified themselves as "HP - Intel" to maximize storage solutions. I asked for a callback number, was given 877-270-9585. I then asked if they are HP. They said "yes". Then I responded "HP direct"? They said they calling from Outlook ISR for David Day.
Just an FYI, I googled "David Day" and came up with a 1990's Computer World magazine with a quote from a system analyst.- Caller: Outlook ISR

- ChuckCalled from an Private Number, they identified as "HP - Intel" to maximize storage solutions. Said it was in regards to a recent White Paper on Storage solutions. Asked for a callback number and got 877-270-9585 Ext. 4834 Mary Mcelroy. I'm not the one making those purchasing decisions for storage. Tried to keep it somewhat vague, not sure if legitimate or just phishing. Told them it was just research in regards to the white paper, don't recall but I may have tried to pull info on this that wanted contact info a few months ago.

- Office Manager In SeattleThe lady who called said that she was "calling from HP", and that they wanted to sell some server equipment. My caller id wouldn't reveal their actual phone number and instead displayed my company's phone number. (Interesting, they are evidently clever at disguising themselves.) I asked her to email me some information, but she didn't want to do that. Instead, she left a message for our head of IT. Once I had their phone number, a quick search on the net turned up the BBB site, where they are listed as Maxx Digital Media. I'm guessing that they are trying to get more sales if they impersonate HP. The lady wasn't rude, and she seemed very professional. But impersonating another company is smarmy.

- transferplease| 4 repliesA response for all of the idiotic comments regarding some sort of HP conspiracy, Are you [***]? This is 2016 and believe it or not several huge companies pay other marketing solution companies to call contacts or “potential customers” from purchased lists. These people are not trying to steal from you and they certainly don’t care what it is you do for the company unless you are the person they asked to speak with. Stop giving these people a hard time, do your job, play nice, and transfer the call. Most of the time “these people” ask for someone in IT because they do not to speak with a minimum wage operator that thinks they are a IT Director or CIO. You are an operator, say hello, make the transfer, and thank the person for calling. After all they are calling to try and save you money, possibly optimize your company’s performance , or God forbid make your job easier. Grow up and stop being mean and arrogant. The world does not need your negativity or your mouth unless it’s saying thank you I’ll transfer you.

- Consuella Booker replies to transferpleaseNobody pays attention to all the hacking done. And how is it done? Social Engineering. A simple phone call to someone in your company who isn't paranoid enough about security. All of the posters have a right to be suspicious.
- SallyBerryRed flags from start to finish! 1) Caller ID read, "UNKNOWN" 2) Telemarketer asked for someone who left the company 8 years ago 3) Caller said she is calling on behalf of HP, to obtain information about the IT environment and upcoming projects. Dial her call back number and you only get a fast busy tone.

- NancyGee replies to transferplease80% of the calls I get are telemarketers, and that's when our number has been on the Do Not Call List since 2012. When I get a telemarketer who can't read English so I have to translate what name they're asking for *and* it's the 3rd or 4th call like that in the last few hours, then yes -- I get cranky. It doesn't have to be a HP conspiracy -- YOU ARE BREAKING THE LAW BY CALLING WHEN WE ARE ON A SPECIFIC LIST THAT SAYS *DO NOT CALL*. Now, pick your stupid mic up, stick it some place dark and musty, and get a clue.
- Opera replies to transferpleaseI'll be polite to telemarketers when I don't calls from phone numbers that go to dead lines. Robocalls are the future anyway. Have fun with your job going to a robot.
- GateKeeperCaller ID shows as "ASUnknown" they claim to be "HP"- they ask for someone in my office and when I ask for more information - they claim to be calling about "IT"- well gee "IT definitely clears it up... the person they are asking for doesn't even DO I.T stuff... they refuse to stop calling because they claim they need to speak to "Joe" in order to stop. Most times i just put them on hold- today i asked for a callback number- lady gives me this number- i ask her who "Joe" needs to ask for and she responds "Joe" ummmm yeah..ok...
