I received a call from "unknown" on my cell phone caller ID; but the left a message "trying to reach" giving my mothers name saying "This call requires immediate attention of a ***** file number at the case 1738*** and I've been informed of the playing that may be _____ ____ _____ do to further address so it's pending allegation you have to contact the firm that was _______ control over this matter at the number 877- 271-1118"  When I call the number back and aske who they were they gave at least 3-4 names of different places they so call represented.  However they could not provide any details that would validate that were a legitimate source.  The very next day my brother received the same call as well they would not provide any legit information on why they were call.  We believe its a scam on the elderly and their relatives.  OR some other bogus attempts to defraud.

Just got a call at WORK from Kevin Scott who said he was a processor asked if I would be home to be served within 2 hours. Said no and he asked to serve me at work and I said no. He gave me a phone number 877-271-1118 and a case # and told me that I had 30 mins to call and make arrangements to be served. Told him not to call my job and hung up. He called back 5 mins later asking to speak with the office manager. Of course I got back on the phone and he asked if there was any policies for an employee being served at work....said no, he said to tell Amy she will be served in the next 2 hours.....so my thinking, do they normally call to warn people that they will be served....I am thinking NO. Had this same thing happen before and it was a scam. We will see what happens in the next 2 hours lol.

I received a call this morning from a man he did not give his name, he said, we are filing a lawsuit against you for $1,870.71. You owe money to a company called American Eagle/ GE Capital.
So, grandma here, I said ok what the heck is American Eagle/ GE Capital? I was told a department store.
Where I live, we don’t even have a Target, we did just get a Wal-Mart though, lol.
We got disconnected and when I called him back, the phone rang and rang and then the operator answered, saying -
“We must have been disconnected Dawn; hold on I will transfer you to someone working on your case”.
There was no, Good morning, this is such in such at, such in such company, how may I help you?

I was told by - Gunther; they are serving me for a debt that was from 2008---but then said in 2013 the debt was listed as unrecoverable.  They asked me if I was related to my X sister in-law who lives in CA., I have been divorced for 30 years, really people.
I asked why the debt does not appear on my credit report, Gunther said, "It's because the debt has been with 5 different collection agencies." What? that makes no sense. Once a collection agency starts work on a debt the clock starts ticking and within 30 days it does hit your credit score.  I used to send accounts to collection at a previous job.
Really, five different collection agencies.  By the way not a one ever contacted me.  I asked Gunther the name of his company and he said he works for “Caplan Law Group”.  They have filed a lawsuit against me, and he listed the county I live in as where it was filed. Gunther said they tried to serve me at----and listed my home address, then asked if I had the papers??? What papers I said? No answer. I said ok send them to me then. Gunther said he would, and I hung up.

I googled Caplan Law Group, and even called them to get to the bottom of this. I spoke to a very nice woman, she said they do have a collections department, I told them I live in Oregon and she said they only handle cases in VA.  I told her they gave me a claim# DA227933 and asked if she would see if she has this claim. The receptionist said, that is not how our collections are handled, the claim# was fake.
I gave her the number that these people gave me to call them at 877-271-1118 and told her to google it to see that there are several of us getting calls from this number 877-271-1118 and we are being threatened for money. The receptionist said she would inform her company, after all they are claiming to be them. I hope the attorneys get them good.

I guess I should mention 2 weeks ago grandma here was called and told that I have a warrant for my arrest in Texas-(yee-haw) for the following-- money laundering, grand theft auto and drug smuggling. The IRS was coming to arrest me that day…. I thanked the man for the heads up and I asked if I had time to go home and pack a bag—you know toothbrush, pajamas oh and I needed to water my plants.  The man told me to blow him?
Anyway, they forgot to pick me up.

    Hi Amber,
Glad to help. These people should be ashamed of themselves.  I have never seen anything like what we are experiencing.  Sad there is nothing we can do about it.
I cannot imagine interviewing for a job and then being told that my new job requires me to freak people out, lie to them and take all their money basically destroy their lives.

Same number a few weeks back, called my cell phone and my work. I spoke to this lady that either had just woken up or had a donut in her mouth. There is a lawsuit against me on a credit card debt from 2009. I asked for them to send paperwork on it, certified letter or some kind of documentation. She said they had send me that information already but I know it’s false, I never received anything. They had my name, address, social security number, work information. She continued to tell me they were going to serve me at work. I advised them I work out on the field and out of state as a matter of fact; that the best place for them to serve me was at home from this day to this day; gave her exact dates to when and where to serve me. She continued to say that the judge will not favor a Whatever and whatever I don’t know what. So I just told her to send someone to my house that I would be waiting and that I am quite fond of judges.

Unfortunately, I paid the amount because it seemed legit- I did have an outstanding credit card & I think I also received a mailing. (This is a year ago) now I am getting calls and mailings about the same debt.
Oddly I still had the voicemail in my phone so was able to find this & went back in my statements to find the payment.
