[ MY NAME ] Case 2020-[ ##### ],
Non-compliant notice issued [ MY ADDRESS ] Urgent-Call 877-271-3159
So I called the number given...
FIRST CALL: I asked the name of the company and couldn't completely understand what he said but it was definitely two names ("whoever" & "whoever"). I asked him to repeat the name of the business and was hung up on.
SECOND CALL: (Less than 5min later) Again, I asked for the name of the business I was calling and was told "a Law Firm", I asked what the name of this firm was and was told "L & S ASSOCIATES", I asked what types of matters this"firm" handles and was told "civil and criminal cases". I accidentally chuckled a little and as I began to ask my next question and was hung up.
THIRD - AT LEAST 10 CALLS: NO ONE WOULD ANSWER.
I used to work for a company that did the exact same thing using the exact same routine. They would buy huge debt files(a lot of the accounts were not even within the statute of limitations to be able to collect on because they were older), send them through a skip trace program(that's how they get your current info as well as your family's info like phone numbers and addresses), run them through a dialer or auto text system hoping someone would get scared and take the bait, then when you call in they act like it is a legal issue and you're going to be served and that they have some type of affiliation to a law firm(which is not true) and reference a case number(which is just an internal account number they assigned your account, not an actual civil or criminal "case".
DON'T FALL FOR IT.
1. An actual "law firm" would give you their info if they were legit and probably would have sent you something in the mail...
2. There would at least be an answering service of some sort if your call wasn't answered.
3. If you had an actual civil or criminal "case" against you, you should be able to find record of said case on your local public access website where the case was filed.
4. If someone was trying to serve you, they wouldn't call you and let you know. It just doesn't make any sense to give someone the time and date they are going to be served...
5. If your account isn't a very high amount, do you really think that some company is going to waste the time and money involved to recover it...?
1. Pay to hire a lawyer
2. Go to court multiple times
3. Hire a process server to serve you
4. Go before a judge with you
5. Get a judgement against you
6. Go back to court to get your wages garnished or a lien against your property.
Just some things to think about, but do your own research...- Caller: 877-271-3159
