I called a HP support number from the internet to help with a printer issue.  He remotely evaluated my computer and shared with me that I had many, many security issues and viruses.  He indicated that I had people trying to access my information at that very minute and that my security fire wall was not performing.  He then said that they have a Microsoft Certified agent that can reinstall security software and care for my computer ....for a cost.  He gave me details of a 3 year and lifetime plan and requested my Credit Card number.  This felt wrong and I hung up.  I contacted the Best Buy Geek Squad, with whom I have a service contract.  They remotely evaluated my computer and verified that my systems were OK and functioning appropriately.  A SCAM.  BE CAREFUL

I had a question about a scanning issue, and miss dieled this place. He quickly went into my computer and tried to say my drivers were corrupted. Then I watched him disable my printer by going into my c panel and Dos, and then tell me my printer was not working due to major issues on my computer. I just used my printer, and this prick disabled it. Now they wanted $99.00 to fix it. Tried talking to what was a supervisor. ( NOT) and he argued with me and said they did nothing. After I told him I saw him disconnect my printer and that I knew how to read code, he finally reconnected and then hung up. These people are rip off's and the FCC should investigate them.

Had very similar thing going through google support.  I asked their support on-line and got an email to call a number who remote accessed my computer and found spy ware on my router.  A scam.  I learned not to let anyone remote access my computer regardless of their credentials.

This could be a scam phone number, because my disturbing experience sounded so much like the one appended below from 2015 (especially similar!!), plus another 2 reported 2018, 2019

I googled for a Brother printer support number from internet to help get new printer connected to my internet router WIFI.   which search webpage upon examination later, I saw had a few different associated numbers and websites. kelectokart.com brother-usa.com 844-675-1923, 877-276-8437, 877-924-1157.  it was a confusing experience whereby a tech took over my computer via "AnyDesk.app" which he instructed me to download and install, including entering my computer security password, and thereafter seemed to be diagnosing with a scrolling dense data screen of columns .... saying "sleeping" notations indicated my drivers were blocked from working. And probably infected for lack of firewall. Which led to advice to get firewall at half-price from hp, sony or cannon, such discount only available via Brother's partnership.  That the support tech would buy and install for me during our session, so printer would work wireless. How could he diagnose my printer via a computer that wasn't connected to it, by cable or internet or bluetooth?  And install instructions said no driver needed on Mac devices anyway. This seemed headed toward asking for credit card info, and much of his explanations didn't quite make sense to me. When I started taking notes to confer with a techie friend first, and then call him back to buy and proceed, he abrupty stopped discussion, erased the report he had typed onto my computer Notes, and quickly shutdown the AnyDesk connection saying he needed to go on to next call.
The warning below was bizarrely similar in detail ...7+ years later

So, instead of going to the actual Brother website you called a random number and allowed them access to your computer so that they could install malware on it?  Why would you call HP for an Apple computer?  I would suggest that you take that computer directly to a real brick and mortar repair shop to have it checked before doing anything else with it.  Whatever you do make sure that you do not connect to the internet.
