- Try Again!Jay Cruz called my place of employment from a private number rambling off numbers stated he was coming to my place of employment or my resident to serve me papers to appear in court. I asked for what? He replied for a payday loan from cashnet. That's a negative paid in full! I asked him for a address so I could debt validate. He stated when you get served your papers you can get the address then. He gave me a phony file number something like 135308. This is totally illegal and a debt collector can not threaten a consumer with jail time or court and once you let them know its not ok to call you at work they have to honor it. I asked for a contact number and he gave this number (8773379225). This guy eventually got frustrated with me and hung up. I do know my rights and immediately filed a complaint with the Ohio Attorney General's Office. For several days different collectors call until the secretary at my job stated she would be willing to testify against them for telling her I was going to jail and I'm a fraud. Don't let them scare you. They switch phone numbers a lot to make it harder for investigators to bust them.
Sincerely,

- anonymous replies to J.H.Ha Ha! you work for them.
- MonicaYou can also file a complaint with the Better Business Bureau because they are breaking the law when they threaten you. I had a company do that to me last April and when I told them they were breaking the law they became very nice to me. My debt was paid and I requested a Paid in Full letter from them. It took them 4 months to get that letter to me but I finally got it. I keep a copy in case they try to take money from me again.
There are some companies that will tell you that you owe money and you don't. That's why they try to scare you. They think you're stupid and will pay them off if they threaten you with a lawsuit.- Call type: Debt collector
