- jp| 3 repliesI also just received a call from these people. He claimed to have the ability to garnish my wages. Is this true? He also said that the county I live in will be contacted for the wage garnishment... What should I do? I don't have the money to pay them...
- Caller: VRM & Associates
- jp replies to jp| 1 replyThey just called me again, saying that since I refused to comply (I basically stated that I would not make any arrangements until I got a verification of this debt), that they have forwarded my information to the county (which they had the wrong one btw). The woman was very rude, I gave my e-mail address, then she said she would not send it to me. Who can this be reported to? I feel like I am being harrassed at work.

Who are these people??? - sick of slime replies to Fed up| 4 repliesNicole Hopkins from VMR Group @ 877-350-1514 left a nasty message on my CELL phone v.m., (by the way, my number is NOT in my name nor do I use for anything other than PERSONAL, noone has my number but family!) stating that the message was intended for ONLY me, that she must hear from me, or "retained legal counsel" by the end of the day regarding a transaction that "may be" in her office and that if I (or my retained legal counsel)did NOT contact her by the end of the day, that she would "accept that" as my refusal to "work with her" on this matter and that her final determination would be to proceed on without any further "input" from me. She finished the message by stating it was in my "best interest" to contact her. She was clearly reading from a script as she had to correct herself on mispronounced words and the like. They have called my work, but do not leave any messages and have used another number (716)821-9221 (Buffalo NY) but of course no information is available. I am tired of this. They are way out of control and way out of line. Any info on these jerks?

- Ms.BGot a message on my home phone. They left the message for a family member that doesn't even live in my state. So I called it back. They wanted me to give them all the information but not tell me what it was for or about. So I told her TFS. She asked me if I woke up on the wrong side of the bed. I said no but I don't need or want people like her trying to swindle information out of me. And not wanting to tell me anything. Then it got messing I said some pretty nasty things. What I should of said is, If you have the persons address then go knock on the door to get your info stop bothering people with others stuff. People need to get a real job.

- Ashley replies to sick of slime| 3 repliesI also received a call from caller ID number (716)821-9221 from a well spoken, quick witted man who introduced himself as an attorney working for VRM Legal named Donald Blaneand this was a "courtsesy notice for a summons". Had alot of personal information on me and said that a company I had taken a pay-day loan from back in oct. 2007 was filing a suit against me that was both civil and criminal in nature. Said the company was MW Marketing, stating that I still owed on a loan that I had never paid. I have never taken a loan from this company. My wife had taken an online loan from another company and about that time MW Marketing put money into our accounts without approval and then started debiting about 70 dollars from our account ever 2 weeks. It was some time before we discovered what happened. They provided no information for contact, not even a number so I had to close my account at my bank to put a stop to it, and the bank was able to recover some of my stolen money, but not all. Fast forward to my first phone call from Atty. Donald Blane. He was very nice and understanding on the phone. Said that these online loans are probably the worst type of loan when it comes to APR and that he does not approve of MW Marketing's practices, but that he is merely part of the legal services they employ. I had wasnt sure that I was truly legally bound to anything from this company, but being that my wife took out the loan with the other company and I had never seen the fine print I thought that maybe I could be, and since he was so polite and not pushy he seemed legit. He informed me that my debt could be settled out of court in the amount of $695 to avoid expensive legal fees. I asked him why there was a criminal case against me since this seemed civil in nature and without missing a beat he said that because this case involved a fraudulant check it made the case criminal. He said that this company, if taken to court wins 99/100 of its court cases, and with the evidence they had against me I would have no chance. I told him that I dont have that kinda money lying around, I got 2 kids and I lost my job in Jan. And this is where I started to get really suspicious. He said that he was understanding of my situation and that in light of the fact that I lost my job he could set it up in installments of three payments. I said I really need to discuss this with my wife before I commit to anything. He then said that if I could make the arrangements now he could divide that $695 over 6 months to make it more manageable. I realized at this point that this was a debt collector negotiating payment arrangements with me, but posing as an attorney. I said I was going to discuss this with my wife and I would call back the next day, Friday. He told me to call 877-350-1514 and gave me a case reference number. I didnt call and on monday he called me back stating that if I didnt call him today he would be sending a summons to the Court of Orange County. I called the 877 number and a lady answered the phone asking for my reference number, I didnt have it so she asked for the last 4 digits of my social. I was not about to give that out over the phone and instead mentioned that it made me nervous that they had my social security number there. She skipped the verification step and transferred me immediately to Donald. I excpressed my concerns with Donald that I didnt feel the debt was legitimate and that I would really prefer to take the company to court. At this point he assured me that it was and even put me on hold to get the evidence for the case. After a minute he returned with dates and even a email address attacked to my wife and said that I should settle this because the company will win if it goes to court. I then mentioned that if this were a legitimate operation then he would have already agreed to send me the summons and that was when he got irate. Started talking over me, clearly offended that I had called his practice dubious in nature. He then accused me of making up stories about my wife taking the loan and said that I "dont take responsibility for monetary obligations." he got very uprofessional. The accusations were going nowhere so I just apologized for accusing him of deceiving me and he calmed down. He apologized in return for the things he had said and tried to continue with payment dialogue. I said I would really just like him to send me the summons so I can deal with it in court. He replied "Very well" in a rather snarky tone and hung up. I hope I called his bluff. If anybody else has had any similar experiences with Donald Blane or anybody else at that same number I would like to hear about it.

Bud Says Consumer Comments Below
Here we go again…another slimy, illegal bottom feeder operation has popped up in Buffalo, NY trying to collect on old, worthless, out of statute debts. Owner Jamie P. Belstadt, a retread of the collection business is trying to collect on debts that are 8+ years old. The documents we saw appear to have been produced by a second grader.
John D. Yim, 36, of North Tonawanda, NY, Vice President of another junk debt buyer called CNE Associates; LLC is churning out the phony documents. Vision Credit Solutions, LLC and CNE Associates, LLC show NOT to have any debt collection license or Surety Bond in any state we checked.
In his phony paperwork, collector Yim refers to the consumer as a ‘defendant’ which appears to violate federal law. His ridiculous form would be better suited as toilet paper than anything worthy of validity. It is pure garbage, nothing he states is true, he makes statements that false, misleading and appear to violate federal law, the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
All of these bogus organizations are nothing more than smoke and mirrors to intimidate, harass, lie and mislead consumers into thinking they owe money on worthless accounts. This is typical ‘Buffalo Style’ debt collections that we’ve seen dozens of times.
These organizations are operating illegally, the accounts have no validity, and the statements they make are false, misleading and ripe with lies. John D. Yim has no idea of what he is doing; Vision Credit (started April 2008) and owner Jamie P. Belstadt are as illegal as all the other affiliated organizations collectively known as the Mackinnon group out of Buffalo. See http://www.budhibbs.com/giove
Save your money, these creeps are new players at the old con game; expect the usual threats of pending litigation, posing as lawyers, police and court officials. No one should fall for this scam. If Vision Credit Solutions, CNE Associates or Tri-Financial contacts you, contact us for assistance and referral to a local consumer law professional.
CAUTION: I recommend you NEVER disclose your bank account or credit card information to a debt collector, as you risk them emptying your account, or maxing out your credit card. If you feel they are reporting on your credit bureau files in error or need assistance in dealing with them, email the details w/your location. Assistance and referral to a consumer legal specialist may be available. - Ashley replies to LAMETthank you for responding to my post. This confirms my suspicions and the information is very helpful.
- Nicole| 1 replyI got a call from this number it was a very nice lady saying she was from an attornies office. The debt she is saying that I owe is legit I looked it up. But I noticed on the caller id that it showed no name and no number which I thought was illegal for a debt collector and when I told her I was in the process of filing bankruptcy she wanted to know everything. I told her I was unfortunately not prepared to answer these questions cause I was on my way out and she gave me her number and a case number as she called it to contact her back tomorrow. Does anyone know for sure if this company is a debt collector or actually an attorny? I am just a bit nervous since when I looked up the number in the whitepages it came up with nothing.
Thanks - Steph| 2 repliesMy husband received a call from them, at first it was 7168219230. They are trying to get us to pay on a online payday loan that we tried to make ammends on over a year ago. The company was unresponsive so we went to our Credit Union, at the time, and asked that no more payments be taken out. We no longer have that account. Anyway, they say they are a prelegal department and threatened my husband. I do the bills so he had them contact me. I explained to them that I was broke, my husband was coming off of 6 months unemployment and that I could send them $20. She stated she didn't have to accept a penny from us but she would talk to the lawyer, Then a very rude man got on the phone and informed me that my W2's show I can make the entire payment and that my credit report shows no pending judgements so I better pay before I get garnished. I then got really nasty with him and he with I. I told him I would make arrangements so he gave me back to the lady. She then wanted my checking account information. I told her I wasn't going to give that to her and I would send them money orders she informed me I was refusing to work with them and she would have to call my husband. They called my husband back and told him that his wife just got him in a lot of trouble and I better be talked to - he hung up on them. Can they really garnish the wages? Do we need to let his employer know that they do not have permission to take money? We have not received any court filed papers from them.
- please replies to Stephlet me just say that how it all went down was wroung and no that cnt garnish your pay ... it has nothing to do with you anyways, I will also tell you that you should contact the attorney generals office, and go from there the bills are what you do owe but that is about it this office is a collections place not a attorneys office. you should turn this company in, its not right what they are doing
- Ashley replies to Nicolebe very skeptical of this company and dont give them any personally information whatsoever. They said the same thing to me and tried to negotiate an out of court settlement, you can read my post above for the full story. I eventually told them to serve me the papers and I'll deal with it in court to which the man begrudgingly said "fine." It has now been two weeks and no papers. I doubt they are coming. They are trying to "phish" for any personal info. When you call them they will ask for the last 4 digits of your social, DONT give it to them. Give them nothing. They will try to strong-arm you, dont fall for the tricks cause they are good at them.
- ElizabethI received a call today from Nicole as VRM indicating that we had a balance due from a payday loan also. I thought it had been resolved, but was not sure. I requested verification of debt and was blown off. Right after I asked a manager got on the phone and was very rude and said they were going to garnish wages if we didn't pay. Maybe they don't know you have to get a court order for that first... Anyway, I agreed to set up an arrangement, but only if I could get a letter validating the debt. I was assured one would be mailed. The conversation got heated when I refused to set up payment until I received the letter, so I asked for a supervisor, and was told he was the manager and his boss was the owner, and he was not talking to me. Funny if they are a law firm...
Anyway, after we went back and forth he threatened to call my husband at work if I did not set up payment right there. I said I was more than willing as soon as I received my verification letter. I hung uo after he told me to check myself- and then he called my husband. Told him I refused to work with him and threatend to garnish his wages.
I called the payday loan company that I had the origional debt with. They have another agency on file and gave me their name and number. I called them and THEY STILL HOLD THE DEBT. When I called VRM back they informed me that the other company was illegally collecting the debt. I find this funny, since they are they are the ones the payday loan has on record, and have sent a verification letter. I am sending VMR a letter to cease all contact or I will contact the FTC and report them. We will see what happens. Good luck to everyone else out there. And double check they are even the ones legally obligated to collect the debt.
