A man named Jim called trying to reach my daughter in regards to a friend of hers that she first met thru facebook . Although the last name is different than what my daughter knows her as, her first name is very unusual. So is this really a collection agency or is it a scam? The gentleman has called both our home phone and my cell phone, although both of my or our numbers are unlisted. He does leave a specific extension 351

Yes. They are stealing your info from Facebook and snooping on us to get to the debtor. Dirty practice.

Yes people this number 5622836612 is the same person. Got a call today from Olivia at LCS saying that my son had an outstanding balance at Ace cash express. The debt needed to be payed or they will start with the legal process. I talked to my son and he has never been to Ace. My son said to look the number up online. So after work today I called her back saying that I was my son. I told her that I found out some information about the number she was calling from. She then was rude and wouldn't let me talk then said so your not willing to take care of your obligations then hung up. What is really bothering me is she had his address and social security number to reference to. And my phone number. Who the hell are these people I thought. So I called them back and they won't answer. Oh she also left this number as well on my voice mail 877-350-2926

Had 7 phone calls to 7 family members in the past 24 hours. Twice by a man named Cameron and twice by a woman named Julie, and three times by a man named Mark. Each stated that they were either from JPL or LCS and that they had a certified package being dropped off for one of our 7 family members that received the phonecall. The phonecalls would state a specific time, date, and address (matching our locations) that the package would be dropped off. My daughter, being a smart as she is, was able to find out that these two numbers: 877-350-2926, 877-349-0899, AND 916-668-5505 are bandwidth numbers created from a home computer in West Sacramento; or at least that's the domain they are using. This means that the scammers take voice over recordings through an internet phone number service; like google, and send it out purposely because it's harder to trace than a landline. That's why no one can find any info on it.
Additionally, a lot of the messages threatened surprise visits to our house as well as drained bank accounts if we weren't responsive. Scary good attempt but still not fooling us.
Clearly they were all spam and fraud calls, however for those who aren't experienced with identifying I wanted to post our experience.
Again these calls occurred Oct 23-Oct 24, 11am to 2am; and the numbers were 877-350-2926, 877-349-0899 AND 916-668-5505.

No, you nephew is the intended victim of an extortion scam.  This is a well known criminal enterprise around here.

One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.  They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off of the internet.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Received call and VM saying to call 8773490899 from a local zip code, to non-existent phone number owner recipient, for certified carrier delivery within ~four days.  Says: "independent carrier service", like it's a company name Independent Carrier Service.  Regardless:  Spam call to me.

I got a voicemail message from a Jim Cowen 877-350-2926 ext 315 from JPL Recovery claiming that i owed money to the IRS and threatening to garnish my wages. They wanted to speak to me or my lawyer to resolve legal matters. I googled the number and company name and came across what looked like a somewhat legit website. When i looked up the address that was on the website, the address belonged to a UPS store that had apparently closed down. Since then, many of my friends and family have contacted me saying to ask if everything was ok because they've received these same messages. i've had to explain to them that this was probably a scam and to please disregard. Not sure how my family and friend's information is getting out there, but this is very embarrassing!!

Got a call from this company. Called themselves JPL Services. I googled them while I was on the phone with them and then asked them for their company name again. They said JPL Recovery Solutions. They gave me a call back number of 877-350-2926 but the caller ID said 661-430-0288. Fishy number 1. The guy speaking to me said his name was Jake Dougen and that he was glad he got a hold of me because the company Loan Me was looking to sue me for wage garnishment. I had a previous account with Loan Me. They said my balance was 15,001.90 and that they could reduce it to 5262.09 with a down payment of 800. Fishy number 2, odd numbers. I asked for more company information which he provided and asked him to send me verification by mail. He said that he will send me something by mail and email. That never arrived. Fishy Number 3. He referred me to their website www.jplrecoverysolutions.com which has one page and verified the information he gave me. Was more like a business card than an actual website. Fishy Number 4. I called Loan Me and they referred me the company they sell their loans to and I called that company. I got to someone immediately and they said I owed 4500 and that they were going to talk to manager over at JPL to get everything straight. When I asked if they could verify the name and number of the company, she said they have so many blanket numbers and aliases it would be difficult to verify. Fishy Number 5. I got transferred to the same person I was speaking to. Fishy Number 6. He then said that I need to provide a card number today so that I can get the deal that was stated. I asked about the amount and the supposed wage garnishment and he got extremely flustered and asked to call back the company I called before them and get the straightened out so that they can update the amount. His exact words were "If we have to lower it that is fine, I don't care it isn't my money, I just want you to get out of this debt." and hung up. Fishy Number 7. I called back the other company and was on hold for an hour before giving up.

My conclusion is that it is fake. They seemed willing to provide the legally required paperwork, but it never happened. They inflated the alleged loan amount and never got back to me.

Thanks for the website address.  We have been looking for these crooks and the fact that they are in New York cements the idea that this is a criminal organization.  In addition to the information I previously posted, file a report here as well:
