A Yolanda Smith, claiming to be an independent process server for my county, called me twice.  The first time she called, she left a VM, stating she had legal documents to deliver that were tied to my name and Social Security number.  She said she would make “several attempts” to visit me at my place of business and my home the next day between 3 and 5 p.m. in order to serve me with these papers.  She said at my place of business I would have to have my supervisor and security guard present, along with ID (well, good luck with that – I work remote and my supervisor is in a different state).  She said if I was not available the next day, it would show that I was refusing to sign for these papers and would miss my court date.  She gave me a long number that she said was my “case number.”  She said if tomorrow between 3 and 5 p.m. didn’t work for me, I was instructed to call this number (877-350-2932) and arrange a date/time that did.

The next morning, she called around 9:45 and left another message, reminding me that she was going to make “several attempts” to visit me at work and home between 3 and 5 that day and said I needed to make myself available at that time, or else I would miss my court date.  At the end of the message, she said, “You have been notified.  This is your final notification.  Good luck.”  No one showed up at my house between 3 and 5 p.m. that day.  Process servers do not call to warn you they are coming.

This call came up on my Caller ID as Blocked.  This is the number, though, that she gave me to call.  I did not call the number and have not heard from this person since.
